My '18 XLT came with Michelin's 18".
I am impressed with their capability through one full winter plus. I do not do any heavy off roading but I do drive through some heavy snow and the Expy hasn't failed me yet.
EL is the extended length version of the Expy. 4th Gen calls them MAX but its the same concept. I do believe there should be a specific EL on the rear hatch label like this.
Oh and as far as I know the only Expy's without the third row are the XL's and they come in both long and short versions.
Touche' there is definitely a trade off for most everything. I prefer the smooth ride and have not noticed any issues whatsoever with stability, but then again - I drive like an old man.....
Guess that is why we have so many options :)
I have the XLT with no CCD and 18" wheels. Smooth as silk. I have heard the larger wheels (less rubber/sidewall) make a huge difference. not so sure about CCD.
Vincent, your take on the EcoBoost vs 5.4 debate is curious to me. A quick Google search tells me the following;
2014 5.4 V8 was rated at 310 HP at 5,100 rpm and 365 ft lbs of torque at 3,600 rpm, which are decent but not impressive numbers.
1st Gen Ecoboost (2015 to 2017) had 365 HP at...
the only real towing I have done with mine (non HD tow) was a car on a trailer and the drive train was more than up to the task, but I do wish I had a weight distribution hitch. The one size fits all design of the UHaul wheels up car hauler resulted in the center of gravity being a bit farther...
Curious ... my 2018 XLT has a "navigation" or "compass" setting (can't remember which it is called) that displays the compass when no route is set in navigation and turn by turn directions and speed limit sign when there is a route set.
Ditto on Dice Roll's comment. We were shopping for a used Lincoln a few months back and had more than one dealership not even bother to call us back. Ended up buying a new (left over 19) from a relatively local dealer and glad we did, but for all the dealerships that blew me off I wish them...
Growing up in Minnesota, I stacked hay bales (the old fashioned kind you could throw around) sideways in back of my 2WD F100. they fit just right and with snow tires on the back I could go just about anywhere...anywhere prudent anyways.
Value is a funny thing. Anything you buy (speaking retail primarily) is priced at what the seller believes the market will bear. And sticker is nowhere near that mark. I paid 54k for a new XLT Max 4WD with 202a and every option except tow pkg and see through roof just about a year and a half...
Don't forget, reliability like "owner satisfaction" can be relative. The creaks, rattles and sputters I hear driving my 1981 Chevette may sound like music to my ears, but they would drive me banana's driving my brand new Lincoln Continental. Therefore, higher expectations will often drive...
Admittedly, personal preferences are just that - personal and unique. But here it is ...
- Cannot stand the vertical tablet look that does not integrate the screen in any meaningful way. Looks like a cheap, fragile afterthought. My lovely wife and I test drove an Aviator a few weeks ago and...
There is bias in every review of one sort or another. JD Power gives the '18 Expy a score of 84 for quality and reliability while the '18 Burban only gets a score of 76.
closing in on 20k here with an '18 XLT Max. Mostly in town, plenty of highway and even a bit of towing and no issues at all. Shifts are smooth and timely. Course I drive like an old man....
Sounds to me like the OP does not have the 4H option. However, even without 4H you can lock the transfer case. And for the record, while I do not go boondocking or any kind of serious off roading, my Expi is like a mountain goat in snow.
this from the '18 manual.
Guess I cannot remove the...
