I always research parts to find Made in USA.
Spicer suspension parts used to be made in US but I think they went to Mexico like Moog.
When I rebuilt my ok’d Shovelhead I used 100% made in USA. But then it’s a 1970 Harley and the Chicoms aren’t in that market.
I researched Motorcraft oil because I knew Ford doesn’t make it.
I learned that ConocoPhillips makes MC oil using Fords specs (cheap)
Then I learned from TheOilGuy that the additive package in Kendall GT-1 Synthetic w Titanium is much better at half the price.
Kendall is made by...
My set of coil overs from Monroe lasted almost 80k miles and I was pissed to find a few shocks leaking.
I guess 80k isn’t that bad. I installed the second same kit last winter and am happy w them.
I probably shouldn’t have criticized Monroe shocks.
My bad.
Saweet! This gen is the best gen Ford truck and that includes f150’s.
These 5.4 2v don’t get the engine rattle.
Don’t need a catch can.
Don’t suffer cam phaser/chain guide failures.
And mine never coughed up a spark plug ( knocking on wood here).
I’m now driving 700-1000 miles per...
Anything that is liquid drop and replace. Tranny, differential, transfer case, coolant, brake, power steering, then change motor oil a little earlier going forward.
If you plan to keep it perhaps time to check wheel bearings, motor mounts, u-joints if any overland driving.
Yesterday I saw a 1st gen f150 that was pristine. White w tan interior. Really sharp looking. Had the owner been around I’m sure we would have become buds.
Next time I’ll take a pic.
Re the tranny flush. It’s probably not a good idea if you have high miles and never done it before.
My truck has had it since 50k so it never got sludge to begin with. Shifts so smooth you can hardly feel it.
I’m telling ya I got an anxiety attack watching that dude pull apart all those panels.
Wonder what my Indy would charge?
I need my trip odometer daily.
There’s a reason Ford has gone back to v8 pushrod gas engines in their trucks. Also note they went big displacement on both 6.8 and 7.3. These aren’t tweeny v6’s nor small v8 like the 5-oh for that matter.
Those v6 ecoboost models are going to drop in value soon as that f150 features the 6.8.
oh oh....diesel vs gas....lets not go there. Diesel has already won that argument in the truck, shipping, yachting world. Perhaps not for soccer mom wagons though, but if youre hauling loads...or need highway mpg you can't beat diesel. They are ruining diesel motors with all the emissions add...
I know plenty and see plenty of f250’s that are not “work” trucks only hauling loads. I see them and chevy and dodge 2500’s in driveways and all over the highways w premium trims shining waxed and purdy. Not working.
As far as electric trucks, sure, political pressure warrants them but see...
