    Interesting Review Video

Nothing to say. Left Ford in 2015. I heard about the train wreck launch of the 10spd in the F150 and wondered how they could let it happen. Lots of pressure to keep a program moving forward and someone didn't have the balls to delay. I think we stuck to our guns better in the early 2000's. That...

    Interesting Review Video

So to come clean, I'm actually the guy who worked with product development from the manufacturing engineering side to design the 2004 F150 front suspension, and I worked on every model up to about 2011. Also did some Expedition work. I can't see a packaging reason for the control arms on the GM...

I'm listening. What are the other ways to solve the half-shaft problem?

    Interesting Review Video

I think his commentary on features is pretty good. Disregard everything he said beneath the vehicle as he has no technical knowledge. The hanger on the from of the muffler could possibly be for a lift-assist device in the assembly plant.. who cares if its there anyway... they didn't decide to...

    Tow hitch cover

The OEM part on our 2022 Expedition was so stupid difficult to remove I once put everything I had into it then went flying rearwards ending up on my butt with a bloody toe as a result (flip flops). My wife later got rear ended and that was the only part damaged. I bought one from Parts Geek for...

    25 or 26? Concerns about 24" rims

20" is the max I'll ever accept on a truck. But we also take our vehicles off road and we like the rugged look better than that of the pavement princess.

incessant front end rattle 2025 Expedition

Totally agree. As a matter of fact I'm starting to consider going backwards in model years to things I can rehab and make dependable. Yes, I actually think I can do it better than the garbage they're sending out the door these days.

Can the Black Tailgate Be Painted?

I highly doubt it that it can't be painted. Pretty much any metal, plastic, composite can take paint. Now ease of painting is a different story. It looks like there's a Ford emblem that should be removed, reflectors, it says Expedition across the back (can't tell how these are integrated). I'm...

    Accuracy of Tire Pressure Sensors???

My sensors tend to read pretty darn close to my gauges, within one psi or so.

1998 Ford Expedition - Shock Replacement (Recommendations Needed)

If there's nothing in particular you're trying to accomplish, I'd just go OEM or some decent aftermarket brand. Shocks for that model are pretty dirt cheap. Got to Rock Auto and look under category "Factory Ride." No need to replace springs if they are not broken or severely rusted.

    New owner with questions

I've always been surprised to hear people complaining about a lot of float in an Expedition ride. I'm pretty critical of ride and handling, and I definitely don't think the vehicle has a good ride, but I've just not experienced this side to side floating feeling. There's definitely something...

Our teeth are rattling out of our heads...

My wife test drove a Navigator after experiencing the horrible ride of the Expedition to see if it would be worth stepping up to. Similar to you, she thought maybe a bit better, but definitely evident that the entire vehicle platform shares the ride problem. Hence, not worth giving up our 0%...

Extreme Outer Tire Wear on Right Rear Drive tire

Rear alignment definitely does get set in the factory. I can't remember which characteristics - maybe both toe and camber? I would think if it was a camber issue you'd be able to see it comparing left vs right. Maybe toe is your problem. And maybe it's a worn component resulting in...

Is this a valid concern/pet peeve?

There is no way in hell your passengers are doing any harm to that door pushing down on it as they're getting in or out. I'm pretty particular about a lot of things in life, especially with cars. In my opinion, you just gotta let this one go. As long as they're not dinging your door into things...

Our teeth are rattling out of our heads...

We came from a BMW X7 which ended up being a buy-back due to quality problems. At the same time decided we wanted more space so opted for a 22 XLT. We went from the smoothest ride to one that I can't believe an OEM released as a ready for production vehicle. I think what you're feeling is...

    Turn off lane center

I'll turn on adaptive and lane centering if I'm on the open road and want to take a look at something on the phone, but otherwise - I agree with your wife. Can't stand that crap.

Am I just shifting/driving wrong or is the 10r80 that "questionable"?

I consider myself to be hard to satisfy when it comes to powertrain calibration, and I was expecting the worst having heard about the launch of this transmission on the F150. However, gotta say I have been pleasantly surprised with both the engine and transmission on our 22 XLT. Sure, there's an...

incessant front end rattle 2025 Expedition

Ha, what's funny about that is that very few people outside of Ford know what it means. "Job 1" is the first vehicle that comes off the line after a model change. That's after you've run your small pre-production builds, after you've gone through integrated build (mix of old model and new being...

incessant front end rattle 2025 Expedition

I've heard the "we checked other vehicles and they all do it" BS. My dealer tries that for half the warranty issues I bring them. I always make them walk out to a new vehicle on their lot and show me. They've had to backpedal on their words more than once. If they haven't demonstrated it to you...

What is the optimal oil change interval?

How do you drain it? Not sure what's up with the valve on my radiator but I can't get more than a trickle out of it. Is there a plug in the block that you also pull? I don't think draining just the radiator removes all the coolant, right?

What is the optimal oil change interval?

I find all of the "I've never had a problem" comments hard to believe. Really? I have examples both ways - back in days past I was a lot more religious about changing oil - we're talking max 5k and typically less than that. Never completely lost an engine, but for sure small things that I could...

What is the optimal oil change interval?

I don't really have a strong opinion on the oil change interval comparing older and newer engines, but most of what I've read over the years states that older engines (old as in decades ago, not old as in age) required more frequent old changes. Do a quick search and most hits will agree with this.

    Charging port cover?

Didn't snap the cover off, but our 120V outlet is really loose. You're right, this whole area is just woefully cheapened out. I may be breaking out the epoxy to fix my issue, and may just snap off those covers while I'm at it as someone else suggested.

Safety Recall 25S47 - Certain 2022-2024 Expedition/Navigator - Front Brake Line Leak - Inspection, Documentation + Reporting of Substandard Condition

What sucks for Ford is all of the "by the way"s that result from such a simple recall. We've got probably half a dozen items that are minor annoyances that we keep deferring due to the hassle of giving up the vehicle. We have plenty of clearance on this brake line, but since we're taking it in...

Anyway to have the rear camera come on while driving?

I totally agree this would be a nice feature and I repeatedly find myself in a situation where I want the camera on in Forward. Example, pulling back to hook up, overshoot slightly, or on a hill and get a slight roll after stopping, place the vehicle in Drive to correct, but camera turns off...
