2018+ Post Pictures Thread!- Lets see those shiny new trucks!

Black is particularly difficult to keep looking good. While I’m not a fan of ceramic coating (nothing wrong with it, in fact, it’s excellent) if I went with a black car, I think ceramic is a must.

    Removing front air dam?

That is true, this is the first time i've seen a 5.5mm head. 7/32 is 5.55mm. There must be a secret supplier of screws with this size head...

    Removing front air dam?

Apparently, it’s a 5.5mm according to some instructions I had. I used a 7/32” (which is most likely the size). That size is also used for the fender liner on the inside of the wheel arch - same screws used on the fender liner.

    Jacking points on 2019 Expy

Hockey pucks. (I never knew they were made of rubber until I heard this a few years ago)

2019 Expy MAX with 6k miles has bad timing chain, axle seal leak, & pinion seal leak - lemon law?

Brand new with 100 miles? Maybe I’m wrong, but a lot can happen in 100 miles...

    MPG vs Cruise control report.

I have experienced a 1 to 3 mpg drop in mpg in 4A. I was wondering why I was loosing so much (after an oil change, adding a pusher bar, raptor skid plate, and roof rack crossbars). it has been a bit wet and rainy and had it in 4A for a couple of fill-ups. Went back to 2H and economy was back...

    Coil SumoSprings

I just installed them. I took the wheels off. It takes longer to take the wheel off than put the sumospring on. Still needs a little lube, but it goes in easy.

Best way to get more power?

I think the ‘more power’ has two mental drives associated with it for this type of vehicle. First, if it was weak on power, there would be an obvious desire to bring it up. In the Expedition, however, it is a pretty pokey vehicle for such a weight. Thus, ‘if this is what it can do standard...

3rd shock blown out on 2018 XLT

Does seem like overkill, but what/where/how did you get access to a service manual? Is it available online?

    30" light bar installed!

For those that want to add a light behind the bumper (which looks like a very clean install), here is a scan of the pages for a pusher bar installation discussing bumper removal. Once you know how to do it, it's not hard, just a bit fiddly (just like anything else). (someone else had uploaded...

Update all versions of Ford Sync 3 to the latest Sync 3.4

As already noted, this is highly unlikely: not worth the headaches by Ford. The 3.0 system works fine - nothing to fix. And it's not just Ford: it's all car companies.

    30" light bar installed!

In a nutshell: Remove 4 small screws holding the fender liner to the inner fender (5-6mm diameter; use an appropriate std socket); Remove a panel pin in each bottom corner of the fender liner; Remove three screws holding the fender liner to the bottom of the bumper; Do the above for both...

    RWD vs 4WD

I'll only consider 4wd in a truck. I know a couple of people who regret getting a 2wd truck. One of them traded it in for 4wd. If you can afford to buy this kind of vehicle at this price, you can afford the few extra bucks for 4wd (resale has already been noted).

    Removing front air dam?

While I don’t know about the FX4 air dam, I’m sure it does move about a bit. I added a skid plate to the front; the lower fascia left rub marks on the skid plate from some obvious movement (lower fascia was in contact with the skid plate after solidly mounting plate). You could probably cut...

What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

I don’t have front parking sensors. However, the instructions say it is not compatible with the front parking sensors, collision detection and adaptive cruise control. I don’t know why it’s not compatible with the latter until I took off the front bumper: there’s a radar (?) module on the front...

2018+ Post Pictures Thread!- Lets see those shiny new trucks!

I know this has gone off in the weeds to cameras, but...I’m not a camera guy, just like to take good pictures when I need to, and that’s the best advice I’ve been given. Lenses: get the best you can afford.

    Anyone using 17” wheels?

Remember the raptor wheels are 10mm further out (34 vs 44 offset). I like the raptor wheels (not the gun metal), but the spokes ‘poke out’ a bit from the rim. Unless you have a wide tire, like the OEM raptor tires, it looks like you might run the risk of ‘curbing’ them. I’d like to see a raptor...

    Rear Cargo Mat

Velcro. And it is very sticky! The carpet isn't designed to have continuous attachment and removal, but once the canvas back is attached, it isn't going anywhere. It takes quite a bit of force to pull it off.

    Upgrade towing

There's a couple of things going on, here: Trailer weight and tongue weight. Trailer weight is limited by vehicle capability. Tongue weight based on the hitch setup. Non HD tow package, you are 'limited' to around 6000lbs (based on MAX and 4wd configuration) trailer weight. If you have a weight...

    Upgrade towing

As already noted, a brake controller. You can have the Ford OEM one fitted. Of course, you'll be using a proper weight distribution hitch. Changing gear ratio and adding the bigger radiator is an expense which probably exceeds the cost of the HD towing package. While you say you are at max...
