Replacing most of the EVAP system to include the cannisters, vent solenoid and purge solenoid along with the fuel tank pressure switch. Any pointers?

I suggest Motorcraft solenoids and pressure sensor, if you can find 'em. Take the spare tire out, I found that made it easier to get to the fuel lines and vent hose. You have to take the spare out to get to the vapor canister anyway. I also made a platform for my floor jack, it was just a...

Rear Brake Lines and AdvancTrac light

Wow, well I'm confused on the ABS module fault now. No clue what to look at there. The brake lines I figured I would just buy some NiCopp brake line, reuse the existing nuts and bend the lines in place. What's the cost for the inline tube lines you got? Agreed on the maintenance cost, but I...

Wheel wobble high speed / or after a dip ?

The reasons why a tie rod end nut would come loose that I can think of: Castle nut with no cotter pin. Nylock nut with old nylon that no longer holds. Lack of thread locker on previously used nut. That nut gets tightened pretty good(111ft lb). Now if you're referring to the tie rod jam nut...

    4wd dash lights

Run through the pin point tests. Tests A and B I think prove out the 4HI and 4LO indicators on the dash. Hamfisted provided a link to the manual for you in this thread. https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/4x4-gremlin.56787/#post-516342

Rear Brake Lines and AdvancTrac light

That sucks the ABS module didn't resolve that issue. The total lack of communication is very surprising, but clearly the issue is not the module. This may be a long shot, but twice on our Monte Carlo's we've had ABS module issues that turned out to be a poor ground that directly connects to...

    2005 Expedition 4x4 Issue - Lights Not Working, 4LO Won't Engage

I doubt all scanners can read the 4WD module, and only high end scanners can control the 4WD module. FORScan can likely read the 4WD module with right adapter. I'm not sure if you'd be able to turn the shift motor with a screw driver. I never tried. I wish I had kept 1 of the old ones I had...

How hard to change lower ball joints ?

Hamfisted is right, it is much easier to do the struts with an impact. I did it the first time with a 25" breaker bar and impact sockets though and it worked. I found taking the sway bar brackets loose from the frame so the lower control arms will droop enough makes it easy to install the new...

    2005 Expedition 4x4 Issue - Lights Not Working, 4LO Won't Engage

BlackCoffee's idea is good too. Like I noted my shift motor caused issues for other systems and the issues and codes varied. I did get codes for the HVAC(EATC module) caused by the shift motor. A scanner will help this quite a bit.

    2005 Expedition 4x4 Issue - Lights Not Working, 4LO Won't Engage

Yep connect the positive lead from your multimeter to the desired pin and the negative lead to the frame. There's 4 switch positions. 2WD is controlled by the shift motor A4WD is controlled by the clutch coil in the transfer case, the shift motor stays in 2WD 4HI is controlled by the shift...

    2005 Expedition 4x4 Issue - Lights Not Working, 4LO Won't Engage

Glad to hear the transfer case seems okay. The shift motors do fail, I just had to replace mine. Mine was also causing issues for other systems in the truck. You can test for power at the connector without a helper just takes longer. You'll have to select the transfer case range you want...

    2005 Expedition 4x4 Issue - Lights Not Working, 4LO Won't Engage

You will need to be in Neutral to engage 4LO. The overly complicated 4WD system in these trucks requires input from the transmission, wheel speed sensors, PCM and ABS. This could very well be the shift motor. The shift motor only changes from 2WD to 4HI and 4LO. A4WD is engaged simply by...

    2005 AC Pressure Switches

On my 2004 the high side pressure has a schrader valve and thus does not need to be evacuated. The low side does not have a schrader valve and needs to be evacuated to replace.

What is this boot on the front of the expedition?

I agree this is dangerous, I also believe it is repairable. My radiator support was replaced several years ago, long before there was a hole rusted all the way through. I have to think there may be more than just the radiator support rusted through, but maybe not since the radiator support...

What is this boot on the front of the expedition?

I believe what you are referring to is the body mount where the radiator support sits, that is now completely rusted away. The description confused me some, but it appears that this is behind the driver side headlight.

Various module communication issues and J2534 adapter suggestion

My Zurich Pro scanner can perform the module calibration, but it can't complete the process due to seized ride height sensors. I'm not going to try to resolve this issue. I have no interest in spending time/money on a system I will never use again. Of course if I find it causing issues for...

    Not so Good Vibrations

Over the last 3 days, I got the transfer removed, the coil replaced, the clutch pack assembly verified correct and I found the reason for it engaging A4WD, 4HI and 4LO, but not disengaging properly and it's reinstalled. It's working fine now. There's no question the coil was messed up. No...

2006 expedition, vvt solenoid + Noise

With the code for the VVT solenoid in bank 2 and the audible noise it sounds like timing adjusters to me. The timing chain adjusters are operated by oil pressure so increasing the rpm a bit also increases the oil pressure a little and it might be just enough. If you're running 5w-20 engine...

2003 passenger side front window problem

So 2 things there. It sounds like the window regulator, the assembly that the window bolts to and raises/lowers it, is hitting on something while it's going up. You'll have to pull the interior panel off again to find that. If this is the case something is likely out of place if there's no...

Bought a 2003 87k miles at auction site unseen

The A/C could be low refrigerant, blocked condenser, low air flow from the engine cooling fan(not likely unless the clutch is faulty). I suspect the hole you feel is for the PCV hose in the center back of the intake manifold. If so I suggest you replace the entire assembly as many of us here...

Bought a 2003 87k miles at auction site unseen

Yes it's entirely possible you have a vacuum leak inside the brake booster. It has a rubber diaphragm inside and can dry rot and crack over time. You can disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose and plug the hose with something that cannot get sucked in, like a bolt or rubber cap that fits...

    2003 4.6 xlt

It might be something more, but you'll need to do the troubleshooting to find out. As noted in this thread: https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/bought-a-2003-87k-miles-at-auction-site-unseen.56733/

2004 XLT - Just dies while driving or idle - No Codes

When my fuel pump relay was failing I would get low engine power or intermittent power and sometimes it died and after a few minutes it would restart. Once the relay cooled down it would make good contact and send power to the fuel pump for a varying length of time. Sometimes I had no...

    Not so Good Vibrations

I pulled apart the spare transfer case last night to get the coil and clutch patch out in preparation of repairing my transfer case next weekend. For the life me I cannot understand how the heck this coil/clutch assembly works. The coil is basically an electromagnet. That means when we send...
