    "Y" connector blowout

This "Y" connector blew out and dumped most of my coolant on the road while I was driving home. Fortunately, I was less than a mile from my house. The temp turned red as I was pulling into the driveway. The darn thing is made of PLASTIC! I got an aluminum replacement from Dorman. I recommend...

    New-Ish Owner Here - NoVA

Hi Critz - Welcome to the world of Expeditions, and to the forum. Although it's VERY boring, I recommend that you read as much of the user guide as you can stand. There's a wealth of information in there to help you get the most enjoyment out of your Expy. If you don't have one, you can download...

Is there a way to keep the interior lights off while the doors are open?

On our 2019 Limited, there is this button on the overhead console. Here is a picture of the console with the doors open after I pushed the button. The other pic is a close-up of the button in question.

    Floor mats

Agreed - Weathertech. We have them in our 2019 Expy Limited. We also have them in our 2017 Edge. Before that, we had them in our 2006 Expy XLT. We love them. You probably will too.

    Ford oil change mileage.

The farthest I would ever go between oil changes is 5,000 miles. Most of our driving is in-town with very few road miles. Therefore, we change oil with full synthetic every 3,000 miles.

    Hidden glove box insert

We wouldn't have room for the little organizer in the glove box in our 2019 Expy Limited. That's where we keep the folder that holds our owner's manual and "cop docs" (registration and proof of insurance).

    Auto start/stop eliminator.

Hi fellow Expys! We also hate the auto start-stop. Yes, there are eliminators from Amazon that will do the job. A cheaper method is to disconnect the wire that is attached to the little box (sensor) attached to your battery. On our 2019 Limited, we get a "Charging System Issue" after every...

    Replacement Tires for 22 Stealth

We've run Michelin Defender M/S tires on four different vehicles over the years. We've driven on ice and snow, and on long road trips. We love them. Give them a look.

    Should I buy 4th Gen?

Over the years, we've owned a 1997 Expy, a 2006 Expy, and currently drive a 2019 Limited. There was nothing wrong with our 2006 model, but we were lured into the 2019 Limited by all the bells and whistles. In dash nav, B&O stereo, and adaptive cruise control were features we couldn't ignore. We...

The door sticker data is your best source for tire size data. Discount Tire has an online tire selection tool.

    Ecoboost Cooling issues Valuable info

Hi Joezek - I can't help but wonder how you were convinced to believe that water is the best coolant one can use. Water boils (and turns to steam) at 212 degrees F. Quality coolant has a MUCH higher boiling point and is therefore a much better coolant. Additionally, most name-brand coolants also...

New member and new truck questions, 2023 MAX Limited

We love our 2019 Limited. It is always smooth as silk. If you have vibrations, you should investigate. It could be something as simple as rotating and balancing your tires. As for gas, I've done a lot of research. I strongly recommend Tier One gas if available. I also recommend 93 octane, which...

Upgrade fan switch on 2019 to later style

Can fan speed be changed by voice command? I've never tried it. I only use voice command for calling someone or seeking a destination on the navigation screen. Update: I just tried to adjust the fan speed by voice command. No go. The verbal message is:"Use the buttons to adjust fan speed". The...

    GLOVE BOX OWNERS MANUAL

I downloaded the manual for our 2019 Expy Limited. It's much easier to search for keywords on my computer or my Kindle. It's a free download. We do have a printed copy in the glove box. There's a little shelf that's just the perfect size for the printed copy. Although we have one, I seldom look...

    Transmission overheating

Many of the threads I've seen on this forum have suggested replacing the thermostat to address any overheating issues. It would seem to be a good, inexpensive (relatively) easy first step.

Anyone Tow in "normal" mode for mpg

IMHO, a little money saved on increased gas mileage is false economy. The possibility of damaging the engine, transmission, or both eradicates any small savings at the gas pump. An engine/transmission replacement could approach $10,000. One can buy a LOT of gas for $10,000.

Doors Unlock but not Lock from Handles (new battery)

Our Expy doors can only be locked by touching those little ridges on the top of the handles with one finger or thumb. GRIPPING the handles is supposed to unlock the doors. Any part of the body inside the door handle will unlock the doors. One must be dexterous; ham-handed won't work.

    Over active running boards

The running boards operate on each side independently. Opening the passenger side doors does NOT effect the driver's-side boards and vice versa. Also, when I put stuff in the back seat, I open the driver's door before I close the rear door. Saves wear and tear on the expensive board motor.

Good 'till the last drop ?

I leave my "hose gas" for the next guy. I figure it's only fair since I got the previous guy's "hose gas" when I filled up.

    Hands free Liftgate

As for me, I really like the heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel. I also like the power folding 2nd and 3rd row seats. I HATE the auto stop/start. Fortunately I discovered that auto stop/start can easily be disabled by disconnecting the connector from that little sensor box on my...

    Transmission

I concur. If there is nothing wrong with your current transmission, I would recommend a full fluid and filter replacement. It won't be cheap, but it will save you a lot of heartache later. Also, watch your transmission temp gauge. Slow down if necessary if it gets too hot when towing.

    Starter Issue?

I had a battery issue that I got from my local dealer. Although only 10 months old, it wouldn't hold a charge. They replaced it and charged me $12 based on the prorated cost. I'd ask for a new battery. A really nice Expedition is just a paperweight without a dependable battery.

    Is it totaled?

I join my fellow Expys in being glad that you're OK. Unfortunately, after damage like yours, no matter how good the body shop is, your Expy will never be the same again. Hopefully, YOUR shop will prove me wrong.
