My Black Beast went over on its side in the snow, new Expy time please read.

They're decent as long as oil changes were done regularly and with synthetic oil (5-20), and motorcraft filters or something else as good. Not beating the piss out of them goes a long way too. But, that's just wishful thinking if you have no clue of prior history of maintenance. I was nervous...

About the only way to tell on the plugs is to take one out and hopefully it comes out intact. If it doesn't, I guess that narrows it down considerably. Any way you can inquire as to it's service history? Carfax, even?

    Disappointing 4WD performance on snow.

What about tires from wal mart, for example? My experience with their goodyear wranglers left me swearing to never put that shit on any vehicle of mine ever again. Then I actually did it again December 2019. I put Goodyear Wrangler Trailmarks on my Explorer. Had to get two replaced September...

    My mechanic told me....

How about you cut and paste the offending part of my post so the rest of us here can see exactly what a big-ass cry baby you are about a few words? Quite frankly, you give out a bunch of advice that is, at best, half assed and sometimes not to the point. I'm sorry (not really) that you feel I'm...

    Disappointing 4WD performance on snow.

I have no axe to grind in this hoopla, but I think I'd follow the words of the fella that's worked in tires for X amount of years over someone who's only dealings with tires is seeing them on his expedition as he walking up to get in it...

    My mechanic told me....

You really ought to go back and re-read my post. There was nothing derogatory in it towards you whatsoever. But if that's what you want to say about someone while yourself, giving out wrong advice or quack treatments, or whatnot....go ahead. Fluff yourself. A penetrating oil will work far...

    FINALLY!!! K&N dyno sheet

It's less restrictive and less bends, plus a better than stock filter element. Why wouldn't it make a little more power? Will that power be felt on the road, via the butt-o-meter? Who knows. I can tell the difference on my K&N equipped V8 Explorer...mileage....pffft. It's a V8 SUV, IDGAF about...

    ford spark plugs

Nothing, IMO. It's the bottom end of these engines that are where things are seriously lacking, but then, I don't think 75-80% of the purchasers ever planned to supercharge or put a turbo on a 3v Expedition. Aside from the 2 piece plugs on the 2008 and down, the 3v are good engines, up top...

How to shut OFF Traction Control completely?

Drive by wire. It changes the signal to the PCM in regards to throttle position and you can't "override" it without the button being pressed or held in to disable it. Seems like a lot of variables...on my '11, no matter how long I hold it in, it never flashes and completely shuts off. It The...

    My mechanic told me....

I know....I laughed out loud awhile back when I read that he runs some through his engine prior to plugs. But hey, if it makes him sleep better at night..? To me, having clean "snouts" on plugs that I'm about to replace is an important thing. Maybe he'll make a youtube video about that too, to...

    My mechanic told me....

I honestly think that if one has to use a breaker bar to get a plug out, then whoever put it in there over tightened it. Especially in an aluminum head.. I think that the torque on the plugs is around 109 inch/pounds, which is nearly as I can guesstimate about 10 foot pounds, maybe a hair less...

    5.0 twin turbo coyote??

I'd be happy with about 400, 450 horse and an equal amount of torque (honestly rather have the torque over the HP in a 3 ton+, 8 seat kid hauler/boat dragger. That it can be a V8 with equal or better mileage than the 5.4 currently there is a plus. I've certainly nothing against the the 3.5TT...

    My mechanic told me....

Steel plug bodies, aluminum heads. We all (should) know what those two metals do with one another when they're in direct contact for a length of time. As even 07navi has discovered...anti-seize will be your new best friend. I use just a tad, don't want a lot, it's a lot like gun oil. There's a...

    5.0 twin turbo coyote??

My point was made tongue in cheek. Most of the folks who want an SUV with a diesel already likely have an excursion. It's a damned lot of work putting a cummins in a Ford, let alone an Expedition and making it work, with the goal of having a reliable diesel powered half ton SUV. For the cost...

    2015-2017 sun visor in 2012

Looks identical to mine (2011) aside from some differences in the labels for the airbag and the rollover warnings. You're good to go :)

    5.0 twin turbo coyote??

Because if I want a heavy ass diesel in a truck, I'll take a Super Duty with a 7.3 PSD. Keep that little wannaba cutey-pie toy...the mall crawler crowd that rolls coal on parked cars can have that generic shit. ;)

    FINALLY!!! K&N dyno sheet

Back in the Fox Mustang era, you could feel the difference from a stock airbox to a K&N/Flowmaster setup... I put a K&N on my 06 Explorer a coupla years ago, made a bit of difference.

    My '11 EL

I just got in a set of Moog rear springs, I'm about to go put them on. I think with the shocks "settling in", the rear springs (not stock, they were the springs from a quick strut, unknown brand) are saggy/not as stiff/tall as the stock types, so I decided to get some Moog units. They were...

    5.0 twin turbo coyote??

Kinda makes me wonder what the weakest link, driveline-wise, that the Expedition has..... Surely the transmission is pretty robust (maybe not 760hp/625 ft-lb robust) but I'm sure the diff would give up before the trans or x-case... Then again, the Expy got a bigger diff, yes? As in, something...

    5.0 twin turbo coyote??

I'd rather do that to a 1st or 2nd Gen Lightning... I don't want the full-tilt-boogie horsepower in a 3+ ton family boat dragger, but a little go-fast, turn hard truck, hell yes. My birthday is in August, hint hint LOL

    '21 F150 wheels

Same wheel, casting number. I've personally looked a set in the flesh. I would've bought them but seller was asking more than what I was willing to pay. I'm still looking for a set of takeoffs for around 750, 800 bucks. Anything more than that and I'll just go aftermarket LOL.
