Update 1/8:
1/4 I called Lincoln concierge and got a really helpful individual who reached out to the dealership and was told the same thing I was…4-6 weeks and that they are just now getting to Novembers repairs. Funny thing on this call is she first called my home dealership and was really...
Update:
I stopped by the dealership to get all my stuff out of the vehicle. I’m operating on the hopes that I will never see this thing again but I don’t know if that will happen or not.
The dealership has a very large shop and it’s immaculate and every bay was in use. The service rep was...
I’ve had weird stuff going on but I can’t 100% say it’s trans related. Mine has been skipping when I’m 4 wheel drive, it’s been in for this issue several times at 2 different dealers. Every time they reprogram or replace stuff and it’s never been fixed. I can get my service paper work out and...
Lincoln road side service wanted to charge me $1,100 to tow mine the remaining 140 or so miles past the free miles they offer. I said “no” and now it sits 140 miles away in another city at a dealership that is full of other cars waiting on parts.
Update;
I spoke with Lincoln Concierge in the hopes of having them move the vehicle to a closer dealership and give me a loaner. The person was very empathetic but couldn’t really offer any help past what’s already been offered. Her best offer was anything over 10 days on a loaner “may” be...
Update:
Heard from one of the techs that had a chance to look at the vehicle. He couldn’t find any obvious leaks and stated that the fluid was venting due to excessive heat. He said it’s likely an internal issue and they will need to dig deeper. Trans tech on vacation. 4-6 weeks to figure...
The unnecessary supply chain issue aside, they should be humans that are reachable by phone. Even though my situation hadn’t changed, I felt better just having spoken with someone to just get the ball rolling.
The Lincoln roadside was ok. However, it took a while to get a tow. Thankfully, we...
Update on this post:
Finally got the dealer on the phone to let them know the vehicle was on its way. The schedule person was in such a hurry to get off the phone I was lucky to catch her before she hung up to tell her the entire story… the part about us being on vacation and hours from the...
I may have tried to drive back to the nearest city if it were just me but I had my wife and kids with me and a breakdown in a more remote area would just present more issues. As it was I was in the middle of nowhere and lucky to find a spot to pull off with service and a relatively safe spot to...
Yeah there’s no adding it. I spoke with a service guy and he said as much… you need a lift.
We have arranged a ride and a tow. Sucky part is we’re hours from home so not sure how to arrange pick up of the vehicle once it’s fixed and we’re back home…
We’re on a road trip and are kinda at a loss. Debating on what to do. It looks like adding fluid isn’t an option but if there’s a way to do this then I can limp home. Other than a tow, who’s got any ideas?
No. Two dealerships, multiple visits, techs driving the vehicle home for multiple days, claims of it being fixed and all turning out to be pie in the sky. This plus my other reoccurring issues make for a very frustrating ownership experience. I’m bailing on Ford/Lincoln in lieu of Toyota/Lexus.
Ouch, it’s sad that it’s come to this.
My service manager told me he’s got one good transmission tech who’s doing a lot of other repairs. In other words, he’s likely operating outside his area of expertise and their are 40 cars in front of me if I were to schedule the appointment out today...
I called my regular service manager today, he never received a voicemail I left a month ago, he told me their voicemail doesn’t work… nice.
I told him I still had my 4x4 issue and that I had the hose blow off because the clamp wasn’t installed properly. He said he wasn’t surprised because of...
That’s my thoughts exactly… what else could have been missed.
I appreciate the compliment. I’ve worked in a few shops as both a mechanic and a machinist and I’m no stranger to driving cars that could break down. Even now I carry tools just in case, old habits die hard. My kids are already...
Since this thread has morphed into a general cam phasers/ford and Lincoln/ dealer vent session I think this post is applicable. Here’s a picture of me today, reseating a small cooling hose that finally came off it’s fitting because the hose clamp was never returned to its normal position. It...
I think most people don’t really realize what goes into the Land Cruiser platform. Over engineering on pretty much everything and built for 500k miles and 25 yr service life.
We had originally considered the 209 series but the 3rd row was the deal breaker. Fast forward a couple years and we’re getting one anyway strictly as a adventure vehicle.
The Excursion is a killer platform if you can find one that’s still stock and not worn out. They are out there, though.
Good luck on your 100 series search! If your not already on IH8MUD I’d suggest joining up, killer resource and forum for all things Land Cruiser.
I went with a 200 series.
This is the case now, unfortunately it hasn’t always been the case. Granted, vehicles are more complicated now than in the past but a big reason for this are things like CAFE standards a number of other feel good regulations… AKA government.
I’ve had many vehicles over the years and I could...
1000% this!
I’m 56k in and in the same boat. We almost bought an Aviator for my wife, thankfully the cam phaser failure put that on hold. Now, the on going 4x4 and passenger seat issues have put us off Ford completely.
