I did think of this, and when issue is happening I did move to neutral and tried the start but no change. Also wiggled the key back and forth, back turn/forward turn, wiggle butno change.
I haven't noticed the PATS light blinking when the issue is happening, but it has crossed my mind.
I...
Update: This gremlin still eludes me. 2 shops, 4 starters, starter relay, new battery and an ignition switch later and no fix. This latest incident was on vacation where I towed the camper down to the Keys. Used the car for several days no issue. Then randomly was getting some bait and nothing...
I have a 2010 with HD tow. There is already a plug for the brake controller. Buy a Prodigy brake controller your self, very easy.
Max tongue weight is only achieved with a Weight Dist Hitch set up, otherwise the non WDH tongue weight max is 600lbs. If it's a standard Expy, with HD package, the...
$40 for a Sunroof repair kit and $45 for a sunroof gasket and a couple of days of your time and it'll be fixed. It's a pain to take the head-liner down and do the job, but not terribly hard. Search on here and you'll find instructions on those that did it including my self. Watched a couple of...
The problem is I can't reliably recreate the issue. So if it happens and I go to test a relay it may start again and the issue is not happening for a few days.
Yeah, cleaned terminals. I'll have to figure out my next move. I would like to change out the key cylinder to remove that from the list but not sure if I want to try or let a dealer do it.
Ugh, issue just happened again. Turn the key, nothing, turn off, turn the key, nothing, turn off. Turn the key, starter grinds, turn off, turn the key, starts up. 4 more tries, starts each time.
Could be any of the before mentioned issues I guess. Corroded cable. Starter Relays. Anti-theft. Or...
I replaced the ignition starter part. Simple job, $38 for the Motorcraft original and about 20 min of my time. Been down with the flu so I haven't been driving much but I did 8 start/stops and drove it one day to work and so far no problems. I'm hoping that was the problem, but jury is out till...
Yes, you can do your best to make your non-HD truck into an HD truck.
A good WDH would be required no matter what. The Class IV hitch should be fine. Add the 7 pin connector. Add the aux oil/trans cooler. Upgrade to an HD radiator. Add new HD springs all around. Add a Prodigy brake...
As Jason said, that's too much trailer for that truck. You'll be over the limit in all kinds of areas. You just got the trailer? What kind of trailer is 31 feet and 5600 dry? What is the tongue weight?
I'm going to replace the ignition starter. This video seems like exactly what is happening to me and the Expy is a 2010 just like mine...

So my Expy has started an issue where all a sudden you turn the key and nothing, no partial crank, nothing. I almost got stuck at a gas station on a road trip, trailer in tow until after 20 tries is just starts. Local shop claimed stater even though there was no progression of starting...
I have the Defender LTXs for 2 sets now and they have been great for towing my trailer. I keep them at 35psi for normal use and increase to 42psi for towing. I've been very happy with them. Wear seems good, and they stiffen up just fine when max aired for the tow days.
I should add that I'm riding a Gen 3 Expy, not a 4. In my case it was multiple upgrades to make my towing the best it could be. Including the things I mentioned, I also added new coil-over springs/shocks, new tires, new plugs, and cleaned throttle body which all attributed to gains for my older...
Yes, 10,000lb Equalizer WDH, upgraded Hellwig sway bars, Sumo rear spring spacers, and a good knowledge of using a CAT scale to get the WDH dialed in for my set up.
Those hitches are extreme. Extreme money and for the most part overkill. I'm pretty certain your not set right if you are getting a lot of sway and porpoising.
As Jasonh says, you need to get to a CAT scale and do at a minimum a 3 pass weigh and analyze the numbers. My guess is you've got your...
It would be the upper limit, but if I had a Timberline w/ 1800 payload I'd consider it. The hitch weight is stated at only 690, that's less than my 760. It is a little long at 32.3 feet, but there are those on this site that do pull campers that long no issue. It's 2.3 feet longer and 400lbs...
I really like the Grand Design 2670MK model. Has the dual slides, it's a little heavier than what I got but if I had a larger payload like 1800 I think it'd work out. When this Winnebago reaches end of life I'll probably be heading that way. I don't buy anything new, just lightly used and do my...
That's a really good payload, mine is a paltry 1460.
We have a Winnebago 27RBDS (Rear Bath, Dual Slides). They don't seem to make them right now, might have stopped last year.
Key thing about it is having dual opposing slides. It really makes a huge difference in the open feel inside the...
Lot of info on this scattered in past threads, but it depends on several factors. Any idea what the payload is on a typical Timberline?
You'll want to stay under 6,500 dry and will want to have a really dialed in weight dist hitch, shooting to keep the hitch weight at the spec of the trailer...
I put Monroe Quick-struts all around on my 2010 and have been very happy with them. New spring/strut combo gave a slight lift and have worked great with my rv towing.
