Well, a year later and we're having the same issue. What is it with this connector that keeps failing? Is the gauge too small causing it to overheat, or is it simply poor connection causing the heat-up? Anyone have a permanent fix?
New radiator is in and no leaks. That lower hose connector is really odd. Let's hope that is the end of it's needs for awhile. We did remove the front driveshaft to track down a vibration issue. Looks like I'll need to get that balanced, but that's a topic for another thread.
A couple weeks in and she is still running great. However, the radiator must have been jealous of all the attention, because it started leaking a few days ago. The plastic end has a split right down the side. Still drive-able for short trips (my son uses this to get to practice and work). New...
Just throwing this here for reference..

Can't say I have any suggestions for you, sorry. Just curious about what symptoms you see when it goes out? Does the fan just not spin up anymore? I wonder if they make electric fan kits for these trucks?
Ok, so I finally got around to tackling this job. It took me 4 days to get it done, which included dropping the oil pan. As it turns out, that part was an absolute necessity. The two stationary guides had completely lost the plastic liners, most of which had ended up on the oil pan and tons of...
I am getting ready to change my oil pump on my 4.6 Romeo as part of a timing job. I saw the same video you mentioned above and even have it bookmarked. I'm interested to know what you find out.
Thanks for the feedback. Actually we decided to just go all in and do the entire timing. I've got a new timing set, along with a new oil pump on order. The pressure has been almost bottoming out at idle. Replacing the sending unit did nothing. From what I've read, its most likely that pieces...
Hey gang.
I have a 98 Exped (4.6L W engine, 4x4) with 280k on the clock. Its developed a rattle up in the timing area, and I'm assuming one of the chain guides is broken, or one of the tensioners is not doing its job. It doesn't do it 100% of the time, but its there for the majority of it.
The...
My bride just reported the exact same issue on our '16 this morning. Does the seat need to come out to get to this part or can it be serviced in-place? Thanks!
I'll give that a look. I know for some reason, the truck had the DRL disabled when we bought it, so I'm curious if this was turned off as well. Thanks!
Finally got around to pulling the belt yesterday and letting it run for a minute. The sound is still there. We've noticed with this warmer weather that it starts of pretty noisy, then quiets down a bit once the engine completely warms up. I wonder if once the oil get circulating, whatever is...
That was my thought as well. I had the chains, guides, sprockets, and tensioners all replaced about 10 years and 100k miles ago when I had the head gaskets done.
Is there any problem with running the truck for a couple minutes w/o the serpentine belt on? I'm wanting to eliminate any of those...
Topping off the oil seemed to help for a bit, it was about half a quart low. But now it seems its back. May be coincidental, not sure. Hoping to get another look at it this weekend.
I had probed in there with one, but couldn't isolate. It was louder on the block and louder the closer to the front I got. Definitely doesn't sound like any exhaust leak I've ever heard. It has a clanging/ringing noise to it. Almost like a small rock being shaken in a metal jar type of sound...
Hey gang. Need help identifying a noise on the old Exped. 1998 4.6 4x4, has about 276k miles. Its a clanging noise that doesn't seem to go away. At first I thought maybe something inside one of the cats had broke loose, because I've had that happen, but this is coming from much further up...
This was our first time using them. It's not where we purchased the truck, but is the closest dealer to our house. I really have no complaints with the work they did. Good communication, fixed all of the verifiable problems we pointed out, and seems like they thoroughly looked into other...
Just closing the loop on this thread. We had the truck up at the dealer to complete some warranty work before the CPO coverage expired. They fixed the window issue by simply replacing the switch as you all had predicted. Thanks!
Got the truck back from the dealer today. They addressed the blower problem by replacing the blower resister and the blower motor itself. From the paperwork, it doesn't look like they had to replace the connector itself, but I'm going to poke my head in there today at some point just to see...
Yeah, it's up at the dealer now. They're going to replace it along with some other work they're taking care of under the CPO warranty before it expires.
Thanks guys. I was not sure if the controller itself was the issue, or just the harness connector. Sounds like its not making good connction, causing the heat-up.
Hey gang,
We have a 2016 Exped Platinum. The other day, my wife said the front AC blower stopped working. Back air was fine. After reading into it, it sounds like there is an issue with the blower motor switch (YH-1829) and/or the connector to that switch (WPT688). I've even read that a few...
