    Towing withn 2017

I have a friend that a has 17 EL with max tow. They stay gone summers traveling across the country pulling their 27 ft travel trailer and love it. We’re from the Midwest and they’ve been all over, NW, SW , SE and no problems. They love it has room for both kids and pets. They’re usually gone...

Running Board Motor - Pin Removal?

OP if you have the time and inclination, would you please send me the link for the one you purchased on eBay? I have the L length and all I can find anywhere is the motor with bracket for the short wheelbase and I would like it done correctly without hacking anything up. Some of them on...

63000 “certified” 3.5L eco boost replacement

Yeah I agree. You’re going to have to read it carefully. I’ve never heard of a warranty throwing in a used engine of unknown condition. That’s crazy as hell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2012 w 150k on it. Engine or Transmission Sputtering around 45-55 uphill under load?

Go out and stomp on it and see if you can get a cylinder misfire code then you have a place to start. Sounds like a COP. If you get the code switch the COP with another and repeat. Let us know! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Front Differential Making Noise

Good deal. Easy fix. That’s steep, but not as steep as a diff rebuild. Glad you figured it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Valve cover bolt sheered off in head

That sucks man. Hopefully you can get it taken care of. How many people are going? Toyota rents cars for $35/day. If you had no other mode to haul that many people I’d have all pitch in for a Sienna and enjoy the ride down. Use the difference in gas to fix your valve cover when you get back...

Brake light, ABS light and traction control lights

https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/abs-code-b1342-abs-light-and-tcs-warning-traction-control.427275/ You might read through that and see if it helps but like you’re saying sounds like abs Ecu. My dads is bad on his 03 super crew and he can’t be bothered to fix it but again there’s no...

    Front Differential Making Noise

07 Navi do you see yet ANOTHER front diff concern? To the OP I had the same thing, labor is right at about $900. I saw mine pulled apart and those races and bearings weren’t pretty and it’s spent it’s life as a highway queen. I had the metallic rubbing sound you are describing and I started with...

    Help with 4x4 auto

I always thought it was fascinating reading about the development of the initial torque on demand transfer case by Borg Warner in the 80s, what came to be known by Ford as control trac and is the predecessor of what we have today. The story of how they developed the electronics and the multi...

    Help with 4x4 auto

Where I find A4WD really nice is on ice covered roads. There it’s nice with the help of the traction control to send the torque to the wheel it needs to get grip, rather than hooking into 4 hi and everything turning at the same rate. I drive in 2 hi 99% of the time. If it’s an absolute downpour...

Would an 07 be a smart purchase?

If you know the history of the vehicle and he’s had it for that long and taken care of it I’d say that’s a great deal. Any reliable running vehicle is worth that. The mileage wouldn’t scare me for the money, mine has 213k now and runs like a new one. Even incredibly high mileage the biggest...

About to buy a 2008, what else to look/listen for?

Nope, enjoy. If everything else felt good then go for it. Keep in mind they’re essentially an F150 with an IRS. If everything serious felt good then I would pull the trigger. Rusty rockers can be replaced cheaply. Welcome to the club! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2007 Expedition vacuum line front end?

Same. My 2000 had 205k when I sold it and solid as a tank. V8 4th gen 4Runners are set up the same way. Some people ran into problems and hence the brown wire mods, but I never had issue with mine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

whimsical thoughts, or, Expedition into a "Bronco"..

Yeah, the Expedition is what replaced the Bronco and the Expedition EL replaced the Excursion. The new Bronco is...something. It’s cool to see the nameplate revived, but it’s not for me. Looks to much like the little Jeep Renegade. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2007 Expedition vacuum line front end?

It’s a vent line. The IWE system has been around since 04 with few changes, I’m not the biggest fan compared to the old system and they have some issues but generally nothing is going to catastrophically fail immediately to destroy things. Usually it’s a weak/leaking IWE diaphragm or...
