Brake Calipers Hanging Slightly - 2018 Expedition Max

I actually caught that issue before I got it back together. Mine has the ones with the ears on the inboard side at the pistons. The bite from the pad is coming more so from the upper piston. On both sides of the car. So for example, the piston across from the bleeder valve.

Brake Calipers Hanging Slightly - 2018 Expedition Max

I recently performed a brake change on my vehicle. Following is what has been done since starting the fight. Front and Rear Pads - Akebono ACT Front and Rear Rotors - Brembo OEM Replacement Front Driver and Front Passenger Side Calipers - Remanufactured Motorcraft Cores Front Driver and...

'18 Expedition Brake Torque Spec Confirmation

I appreciate the help. Taking on the front today, limited time and not ideal conditions, but I was onto metal on the driver side at the piston side.

'18 Expedition Brake Torque Spec Confirmation

Looking at the actual listings for parts, although the procedure calls for removal of the bracket. It looks like it isn't necessary to even remove the rear bracket, even if you're doing a rotor change. I may be able to avoid the entire thing all together, it'll just make cleaning the slide pin...

'18 Expedition Brake Torque Spec Confirmation

Yeah, that was my exact thought as well. 258 is a whole lot of force, and well above anything I've ever run into before. I was almost wondering if it was misprinted as ft-lb instead of NM. The most I've seen on rears is like 140.

Transmission Debate - NEW / REMAN / REBUILD

Rebuilder offers 1 year. So there’s not as much coverage warranty wise, compared to a New or Reman at 3 years.

'18 Expedition Brake Torque Spec Confirmation

I'm prepping for a Pads/Rotors on my '18 Expedition Max, in addition to the all too common driver side valve cover. In preparation for the valve cover, I got a subscription for AllData, and decided to do check the Torque Specs for the Brakes. That being said, it's listing the following...

Transmission Debate - NEW / REMAN / REBUILD

To close this out, I elected to go with the rebuild. There was a short period of time where I was going to go with a Factory New replacement, however, after submitting the order for the transmission, FORD cancelled the order. I was quoted $3600 for the unit, however, according to the dealer...

    Replacement Tires for 22 Stealth

So there was a little delay on me actually getting to truly give them a try, I had to have the transmission rebuilt within a few weeks of having the tires put on. Since having that done, I've had a little time to drive the vehicle with the new tires. Dry pavement conditions I didn't notice...

Transmission Debate - NEW / REMAN / REBUILD

From what I’ve gathered, the Ford Remans and New replacements carry the same warranties, however, depending on where it’s installed it affects the labor coverage. I’ve heard 3yr/100k miles and 3yr/unlimited miles; and that labor is covered 100% with a dealer install; and then I’ve heard $50/hr...

Transmission Debate - NEW / REMAN / REBUILD

Nobody has been able to give me a solid or definitive answer. I just spoke with a local Ford dealer, and even they couldn’t guarantee it. They stated that they would believe that it would be the updated unit, seeing as the last digit in the transmission has updated twice since the manufacturer...

Transmission Debate - NEW / REMAN / REBUILD

My CDF Drum has gone out on my ‘18 Expedition. I’ve gotten several quotes for repair and replacement. My biggest hangup on the decision is whether or not the new or remanufactured transmissions come with the updated CDF Drum, Torque Converter and other updated parts; or if it’s a gamble...

    Replacement Tires for 22 Stealth

I wound up pulling the trigger on the Michelin’s. They get installed Friday. Mopar is running a buy 3 get 1 for $1, so it was a hell of a deal. Plus there’s an active rebate for them too, not sure if it’ll go through, but I’m gonna give it a shot. Also throwing a set on the wife’s Wagoneer...

    Replacement Tires for 22 Stealth

We got hit pretty good the last two days. The ice skate like tires were very note worthy on the highway last night. I’m really looking at the Michelin’s and the Goodyear Weatheready 2’s (they’re similar to the Goodyear tread we run on our cars at work, and they’re very tacky. Less mileage...

Transmission slow to up-shift when engine cold?

I’ve been having this exact issue, but I have a feeling it’s a fluid breakdown issue. My ‘18 limited just hit 88k. A few thousand miles ago I was dealing with some cooling issues on the engine (bad heater hoses); and these issues started showing up around that same time. Has anyone tried a...

Recommendation for any Transmission Love Yet at 50k (2020 Limited)

Any update on your situation? I’m calling to schedule a drain/fill and filter change today with a local transmission shop. I’ve been having rough shifts just in the low gears when the transmission is cold, it’s subsides once it reached temperature. I think the fluids broken down and has...

    Replacement Tires for 22 Stealth

As a Syracuse native with a Northern commute, and an ‘18 on 22s, I’m also waiting to hear feedback. You dodged a bullet on the Pirelli’s. Mine came with new Pirelli AS Plus 3’s when I bought it last year. They were awful in the snow, I compared it to driving on ice skates. I repeatedly...

2018 Expedition Intermittent Low Oil Pressure Warning

Problem solved. I did replace the battery, however, that was not a cause. When it was diagnosed, they found that the Oil Pressure Sensor was reading 140 PSI with the engine off. Turns out, my replacement sensor was either faulty from the factory OR incompatible with the Expeditions computer...

P0390 and P0394 codes today, no oil pressure a week ago

This exact thing was what was triggering my low oil pressure issue on my '18. The SMP sensor was either faulty or incompatible, and needed a motorcraft replacement. Your note about this, made me check that, and sure enough it was a clear trigger for the problem.

2018 Expedition Intermittent Low Oil Pressure Warning

Further update: I have been able to find a definitive way to trigger the low oil pressure light/warning. It immediately will alarm the second my car performs an auto start/stop. For example, I have found that if I pull up to a red light, and the vehicle goes into auto start/stop, shutting...

2018 Expedition Intermittent Low Oil Pressure Warning

I have an appointment to have this diagnosed next week. I’m gonna try and avoid it if I can. Last night, there was a small update to this. The coolant leak was coming from the Heater Hoses. I ended up replacing both, one was definitely leaking, the other had splits in the metal crimps, so...

2018 Expedition Intermittent Low Oil Pressure Warning

The new sensor is aftermarket, however, I grabbed it from O’Reilly’s. It was a Standard Motor Products option. Which I believe are fairly reliable aftermarket options. The idea has popped into my head, however, it reads oil pressure constantly on the gauge. The wires and clip were oil...

2018 Expedition Intermittent Low Oil Pressure Warning

I do, but my reader doesn’t have oil pressure. That was my initial thought. I have an innova code reader that ties to my phone via Bluetooth. I’ve been trying to avoid getting Forscan on top of that. It is awfully rare that I get the “low oil pressure” warning on the dash, I think over the...
