Looking to possibly replace shocks/struts in the rear of my '03 XLT. It's got the coil over shocks (or struts, not sure which one they are). Don't have a spring compressor, so I'm interested in the new shocks that have the integrated springs as part of them, like the new ones from Monroe...
You are exactly correct, at least according to my test light. I checked the fuse and it works, and I checked what I'm assuming is the wire for the circuit coming out of the fuse box and it works too! So I'm guessing there's a cut in the wire somewhere, or something like that. But with the...
I've got nothing in the driver's a-pillar, and nothing directly in the c-pillar, although I do have wires coming up from the floor and into the driver's side rear pocket (in the rear cargo area opposite the rear HVAC unit).
Having bad switches on EVERY interior courtesy light seems pretty unlikely to me...
One or two bad switches I could see, but ALL of them? I just can't believe that.
Besides, I tested the feed and there's no power coming into the switch.
I've got a bunch of police equipment, aftermarket stereo w/ NAV and SUB, 8500 x50 hardwired, and HID lights. That's about it. And none of it touches the courtesy lights circuit (at least to my knowledge). Any body got any ideas where I could look for the cause of the problem?
Same here. If your doors are open and the light is on, you go to turn that particular light on and it turns off!
What things have you installed? I've done a bunch of customization as well.
Hi all!
I recently ran into an issue where ALL of my interior courtesy lights do not work when you go to turn them on individually. They all come on with the keyless entry or when you open a door, but when you go to turn them on by themselves, such as the rear cargo light, it does not work...
I towed a 35' travel trailer (approx. 8000 lbs) w/ a 2003 4.6L Expy with no sway control! Sunk the rear-end pretty low, and couldn't get above 50mph, but she did it. Won't do it again though...too nerve racking!
Ok, replaced plug #8 with a motorcraft one. Truck still shudders while in park and gas is romped on. Oddly, it does not show the shudder when you feather the gas up, i.e. a soft touch. Only when you really romp on the thing. Haven't had a chance to drive it around yet, but don't hold out...
Thanks for your help. So, if I replace the #8 plug, can I use a different type? meaning: Can I leave my other 7 bosch platinum +2 plugs in and replace the #8 with a motorcraft without any adverse effects?
Also, is it worth me bringing the truck to a dealership and have them look at it? Or...
I went and bought one of those "pocket scanners" from Autozone for $70. When it read the code, it came up with "P03E8". The reader came with software that you can lookup the codes. It says "Ignition System or Misfire".
In your opinion would you say that it is a misfire on #8? And if yes...
Hi Guys, Need your help again....
My '03 Expy XLT w/ 4.6 is acting up again and I have no idea what the cause is.
Problem:
1.) I've got a shudder that happens mostly around 45mph with just the slightest bit of gas (if you let off the gas, then give it just enough to bring the RPMs back...
I did. Boy, was that an experience. 60mph, brake to 10mph, back up to 60mph, and do it again 10 times. Then wait 15 minutes without stopping and do it again 2 more times. I ended up in New Hampshire (from Boston area) and got many a crazy look from other drivers!
This has happened a few times now.
Most recently, the truck was parked overnight. I came out, and I had no power. Wiggled the positive battery cable and it came back on. This by itself, would lead me to think that it is a loose power cable, but it worked when it was parked the previous...
I ended putting on Centric pads and rotors. The rotors have a powdercoated center so they'll never rust and never freeze to the hub. The pads are a carbon metallic. So far, they're doing pretty good. I'll let you know how they end up down the road.
Hey guys,
Getting ready to change my plugs. Wanted to know if anybody with an '03 w/ the 4.6 has done them and how difficult it was. Is there anything special that I should look out for? Any special tools needed? How long did it take you.
Thanks,
Brandt
Ok, so I used the seafoam tonight. I started by putting about half the bottle through the brake booster vacuum line. Once this was done, I started dumping a lot down to try to stall the truck like that link says. It wouldn't stall. So I turned off the truck, re-attached the vacuum line...
