    2009 Acceleration Issues

Thanks for the help, everyone. Another update; I had to run another errand yesterday so I jumped in, started up and the check engine light was off. My best guess is that my hard acceleration from a dead stop likely triggered something that caused the code. I'll be watching for the light to...

    2009 Acceleration Issues

Update on my acceleration issues; I replaced all of the plugs and cleaned and inspected the coil packs for cracks and deterioration. They all seemed in good condition so I reinstalled them. A test drive of the Expy told me that it was the plugs after all. It drives and accelerates just as it...

    2009 Acceleration Issues

So, I pulled one of the coil packs to get a little more info for myself. I cannot see a plug but I could feel what appeared to be the tip of a plug down in the cavity. It seems odd that Ford would put a plug that far down and virtually unreachable but I have encountered some odd stuff on this...

    2009 Acceleration Issues

I am having issues with the acceleration in my 2009 Expy. With 200K+ miles on it (I'm the second owner) I don't know if the problem is a fuel filter and/or fuel pump, which are probably located on or in the gas tank, the fuel pump or plugs and coils. No codes pop up but the car acts like it is...

    Information Display

It does not brighten. I've tried that on a couple of occasions wondering if it might help. Nope. Nada. Nothing. Turning the headlights off doesn't help either. What I am reading here is that this is, as I expected, a design flaw.

    Information Display

I am on my second Expedition - my first, a 1998 EB, was such a good vehicle that when it came time to buy something that didn't have 300,000+ miles on it that I went with another, a 2009 EB. One of the things that I do not and have not liked about this version is that the information display on...

    Fuel Gauge and Trip Computer

I am having this same issue, same scenario. I see that this post is about 5 years old but I was wondering if there was any new information or if you found the problem and solution.

    “Thunder” 1998 Expedition Build Thread

My new bumper has arrived and the bumper cover is on its way. I need to purchase new brackets for the bumper and need to know if the brackets in the very back of your pic are needed and where they go. Can you help me out? Here you can see all of the parts needed for the Lightning bumper...

    “Thunder” 1998 Expedition Build Thread

Just got new leather for the front seats and arm rests. Last week it was a replacement for the tensioner and before that an overhaul of the intake manifold and replacement of related parts. Next up is a new '99 bumper. Then a new '99 grille and then on to the Lightning bumper cover.

Mr. Gadget, do you know if there is any "Thunder" badging available? Was any ever produced that could be purchased?

    “Thunder” 1998 Expedition Build Thread

I saw your thread on Lightninggarage.com and took note of your installation of the front bumper assembly. Where did you purchase those parts? I keep seeing those listed on ebay as bumper covers. You took your old bumper off, it appears, and installed the Lightning bumper right onto the front...

Good to know. Thanks. Mine have faded and look like crap. Want to get rid of them prior to paint.

Who has the most miles on the odometer of their expedition?

Nope, not tired of it yet. Today I had a new water pump installed. Don't remember ever having put one in before. She still runs great and is very comfortable.

Who has the most miles on the odometer of their expedition?

Today I turned over 325,325 on my '98. Yesterday I had a new starter put in and I believe it's only the second starter. Still running strong and my goal is 500,000.

Who has the most miles on the odometer of their expedition?

It looks like Kbsax might be the winner here. At 312,400 miles back in January, he beats my 312,000 I just turned over yesterday. I'd like to know if there is a higher mileage Expy than Kbsax.

    Front Bumper Cover or Replacement

Has anyone here done a bumper cover on an Expy? I would like to do a body kit but don't know whether a replacement bumper would be better than a bumper cover. The attached pic is for a cover I've found on Ebay and would rather not waste my money or do something that'll look stupid.

Who has the most miles on the odometer of their expedition?

Went for a short drive today... Just hit a milestone today. I'm real proud of her for holding up so well for so long. 300,000 miles is a lot of miles!

    Steering wheel reupholstery recommendations?

I got to go see if I could find their shop yesterday and the address listed on their website is a postal service storefront. So, I'm guessing one has to send the wheel to them and wait to get it back. I'll see about making a phone call.

    Steering wheel reupholstery recommendations?

I checked out their website and it turns out they are not too far from where I live. I am going to see if I can find a time to go to their shop and check them out. The information on their website says they offer what I am looking for, short of purchasing a new steering wheel. The problem...

Poll about 5.4l V8 and mileage

98 EB with 298,725 miles. Gonna take a picture of the odometer when it turns 300,000. No major problems to date. Just had a tune up and some minor repairs. I think I ought to change the oil more regularly. Gotta have the tranny fluids changed soon. The heater core failed a couple of years...

    Interior lights stay on

I've tried WD40, turning off the dimmers, everything mentioned here. There isn't an on/off switch that I am aware of. A bad relay switch may be the most likely culprit. The running board lights turn off when the doors are closed and the map light switch no longer functions. You'd think that...
