My Winter tires (my first set were Cooper) are quite "sticky" compared to my Summer tires. I lose 10mpg when those are on. If you want better mileage, a smooth-riding tire is a must. :)
Wish I could help, but as someone who would really love to *add" CCD suspension, could you tell me exactly which parts you replaced? For example, I knew the shocks were special for CCD, but I didn't know the springs were also different. Were there any other parts you had to replace?
Thanks! :)
We are having the exact same issue! But, it's intermittent, and I tried recording it but the sound does not show up on videos. So, without being to prove it's happening, Ford has not been able to help. I was hoping we were not the only ones out there having this problem!
This is FANTASTIC!!! I happen to have my own laser-cutter so I must try this! You can do it for just about any switch that can be disassembled. The only issue is the durability of the paint. It's probably best to apply several coats and let them cure very thoroughly before installation.
It's been a long time, so I don't clearly recall. IIRC, at night I was able to see the ground from inside the truck by shining a flashlight through the hole from the top, but only at an angle. There's a structural member just below the hole so at first glance it doesn't look like it goes all the...
Which "actuator" did you replace? According to your signature, it seems you have a 2011 XLT Premium. This means you have dual-zone climate control so there are three blend door actuators (driver, front passenger, and rear).
Following the advice in this thread, I ordered a Dorman generic rear wiper arm for my 2017 EL XLT. But, I'm having great difficulty getting the old wiper arm off.
It seems the factory rear wiper arm is aluminum that's press-fit onto to a threaded steel stud. When two dissimilar metals like this...
This is fantastic, thank you for sharing!! I have memory mirrors on my truck but not factory power-fold, so this could be the easiest way for me to achieve both power-fold and auto-fold in one step.
One question though: On my 2017 I checked the factory wiring diagram and could not seem to find...
Fantastic!!! I have all the parts to do this, just have not had time to work on it. Do you for sure have to remove the rear bumper? Looks like that's the only way to access the modules?
All this makes me glad I don't have a moonroof! But, my 2017 EL XLT now appears to have some sort of (thankfully small) leak. I noticed one night when it had been particularly wet that the interior was all fogged up. There was a small amount of water visible on the driver's rubber floor mat.
I...
Janky you need to run in 4WD (4A, etc.) in the snow or you will lose a lot of traction. I'm also in the PNW and we live up a very steep hill (40 deg or so incline with a switchback). I put my chains on the rear wheels and run in 4A and have no trouble getting up and down the hill. With that...
The SJB *should* be the same for all models as that would save Ford money over making dedicated hardware so it makes logical sense. The SJB has some computer firmware in it that allows for configuring different options.
If it can't be re-flashed for any reason, you might be able to swap your...
The SJB enables and disables the relay for the 3rd Row Power-Fold Seats. There's also a Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) for vehicles with Power Liftgate, but since he got his to work without retrofitting that (unless I missed something), it tells us serial communication between the SJB and LTM...
I haven't heard any mention of being able to override the backup camera using factory settings. But, you can get an aftermarket interface module that lets you put a camera's output on the factory screen. In order to make this work, however, you'd need to replace your OEM backup camera with an...
I agree completely! I tried very hard to get my hands on a '17 Platinum (or the rare Limited with CCD) but I just could not afford it. It's the biggest regret I have about my current truck (which is a fairly loaded XLT).
We also have an '18 Platinum ("Shorty") and I can tell you the '17 EL with...
I haven't read any discussions about it or heard anything confirmed. In theory, there should be no issues with going down to 18's from 22's as long as the overall tire diameter remains the same. But, like I said before, it is certainly possible the programming of the CCD assumes the "unspring...
I don't know about the clockspring. Actually, taking a fresh look at this again, I can see that using an '18 Expy (F150) wheel would mean losing the "joystick" controls on the upper right side of the wheel. Since those are needed to use the right hand instrument cluster SYNC info display, that's...
I think so, yes, but I'd still like to know the exact resistance values involved just to be sure.
BTW, since I have both a '17 and an '18 here, I'd like to see if it's possible to put an '18 F150 wheel in my '17. I like the way the buttons work on the '18 better and it would be nice to have the...
Any time I talk to a dealer about anything custom, they won't touch it and don't even want to talk to me about it unless it was installed on my truck by the factory. I noticed the same trend in multiple different threads where people talk about trying to add optional factory equipment to their...
If you want a smooth ride, I once drove a 2013 with Pirelli 255/75R20 tires on it (and rear air suspension option). Smooth as silk! I didn't get the exact model of tire though.
