My head unit on my 2011 Expedition has not been acting right for some time. I would really like to replace it with a more modern aftermarket unit. I see lots of threads out there on the internet that talk about maintaining steering wheel controls. Is there anything that also allows you to keep...
I apologize for the length of this post but I want to give you all of the info.
SYMPTOM
Radio only outputs a squeal/static out of rear speakers. Volume of noise doesn't change even though head unit shows volume going up and down. Can shut off head unit which stops noise, but when vehicle...
YES I had the same problem with the positive battery terminal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took a chance on one that I found on Amazon that looked like it would work and it did. It is outrageous that Ford does that, especially for items that are wear items (like a switch or battery terminal).
Oh you don't have to worry about that with me. Nothing more that I hate than finding a thread from a long time ago, and the person that started it never reports back. I HATE THAT.
I am not a photo journalist (lol), so you all are just going to have to deal with my worded description. lol...
My key fob only has a button to lift the glass, not to unlatch the liftgate unfortunately...
Most ebay links in this thread aren't working. Not sure if eBay is having issues or what.
I did find the following on Amazon and bought it. The switch looks shallow enough and may fit in the...
Hi, my button on the rear handle to open the lift the rear tailgate is only intermittently working (not power liftgate, the button just engages the actuator to release the door). Anyway, I looked around and surprisingly there really seems to be very little information about this online.
Ford...
I just want to follow-up on this since I hate when people that start posts never follow up. It was the rear fan. I metered the connection to the fan and that made it pretty simple.
The EL Expedition is easier to remove the back panel enough to replace things like the fan and the blend doors...
Hi all,
I have a 2011 Expedition EL XLT and the rear air stopped blowing. When I press the button to turn the rear blower on, I hear a relay clicking in the back, but the blower doesn't spin at all. For this problem I assume it could be either the rear blower resistor (which I assume is in...
If there is no possibility of this being the problem are there any other ideas? I do hear the compressor clicking on and with this mode actuator clicking it seemed like a good bet that this may be the issue??
Is there a way to reset this door to try to recalibrate it?
I have a question. The mode select actuator in my 2011 Expedition is clicking. Is there some way that would cause my AC to blow warm? I would think that the blend door would cause it, but not the mode select door. I hear the compressor kick on, but the mode select door clicks a few times and...
I am pretty sure it was that purge valve. It was right up against the firewall, basically right between the drivers and passenger side, and was a lot of fun to replace. :)
Thanks. I hope you do. I feel like it may be the capless assembly too at this point, I just am not sure I want to get into replacing that. #1 I suspect it will be an expensive part and #2 I suspect it will be a bit complicated considering we are talking about a glorified filler hose.
Hi all. Unfortunately I don't have access to a smoke machine, so I am kind of hoping there is something common with these trucks that causes this. I know I can ride around with it forever, it just sucks having a 100k vehicle with this stupid light on.
I have already replaced the purge valve...
UPDATE:
SUPER simple to install (literally had it done in 3 minutes). It came with a new bracket that goes into the rubber grommet, but that seemed like a lot of extra work for nothing. I just slid the new one on the existing bracket. I cleared the code, and now we wait.
I noticed that on...
I am pretty sure these are the headlights:

Interim update.
Thanks so much for everyone's suggestions and assistance. So getting to this thing isn't the most fun thing in the world. But I eventually got it. I had a hard time with the picture orientation above (and couldn't find the green test port), so I looked up a YouTube video...
Hi all,
So I hate dealing with this code since it is very unspecific. I hope you can all point me in the right direction. Maybe something common with this vehicle, or maybe something else based on the symptoms.
So I just started getting the Check Engine Light. I read the codes, and the only...
One other thing about this. I would hate to replace this part with the same part number, when Ford may have released a NEWER part number compatible with my vehicle because they found problems with the original and created a new one.
Thank you for the directions. I found a video that showed quite a bit of this too.
I wouldn't call it laziness that I don't want to take apart my daily driver just to get a part number, but rather that I would like to just take it apart once with the part in hand and ready to replace.
I am...
I don't want to have to take everything apart to find this. I would like to have the part in hand when I do it.
@Dorzak I was already on Tasco, but unfortunately it wasn't a big help.
I have decided to replace the APIM in my 2011 Expedition EL. I am going to bring it to the dealer to program, but I will buy the part and put it in myself. I called my local dealership and she gave me the part number of BA5Z-14D212-AB based on my VIN. She asked for the last 8 digits of my VIN...
