    Selling the beast

Hi Folks, I'm selling the big white beast. I'm going over to the Jeep camp. If you know anyone that's interested in the big white beast, let me know. I just put the second new front axle on and had the radiator flushed, has ceramic brakes\rotors\calipers less than a year old with few miles...

    Fuel Filter

The metal contacts in the plugs for the fuel injectors get tarnished too. The screens can get clogged. My fuel filter is a PITA, I have two diff tools to remove it and still can't get the damned thing disconnected. .

I can see now that I should have bought the OTHER Expedition that was for sale then and paid the extra grand. Oh well live and learn. Thanks again for all the practical advice. .

    1998 limited slip

Speaking of labor, this isn't something a lay person can\should do? Requires shims and experienced mojo? What about just the LSD, is that something a backyard mechanic can do? .

    1998 limited slip

I talked with a guy at 4wheelparts, and narrowed down some things. Lockers are out. Clutch limited slips are less reliable for larger tires than the all gear diffs. If I go all gear and no clutch, the Detroit - Ford 9.75in. 34 Spline TrueTrac looks like a solid piece. He suggested that I buy...

    1998 limited slip

If I did this, it would require buying new gears in addition to the differential, and I would need to replace the gears ob both the front and back right? Maybe this is better served as a 2 step process? I'm not a crawler, but I do see some rugged country and want to have better traction...

    1998 limited slip

Thanks again, I'll crawl back under there and snap a pic or two and look it up. This was a SSV but I don't know if that made any difference in the size of the rear end. .

    1998 limited slip

Do you have any brands or places that carry this in mind? For rear and front? Any links for the "new electronic systems" since I already have a "non-locking center differential"? Are you referring to the "Electronic traction control (2003–present)" in this link? If so, is it possible to add...

    1998 limited slip

THX for the info. The rear is E = E4OD ( I'm pretty sure this is what I saw on the pumpkin when I crawled under there once before ) The axle is 17 = ratio 3.55C non-limited slip? It sounds like the rear solution is an affordable self installation option, where-as the front would be more...

    1998 limited slip

Last year one of my wheels fell in to a pothole under the snow while barely making progress at all. The wheel that sank would just spin, and unbeknownst to me, when I put on the gas it just rooster-tailed the mud and sank further. This led to my having to winch out, and actually uprooting the...

    Question about Hitch Pin,

Am3gross is correct. I own this CURT and about 5 other pins, including ones from HF. The Curt locks and afaik will last you for years, the HF pins aren't the same quality but will suffice for your load. I don't always want to lock a pin, I just need that in there temporarily. Another thing...

    Ordering brake pads and rotors

I can't re emphasize this enough. If you don't have the right tools and willing to do these steps, it's not cake at all. Start soaking those damned bolts a week in advance, or even NOW. .

    Anyone have a winch setup?

You really want to haul that weight around full time? Throw a Curt receiver on the front (which uses that hole) and put a winch on a cradle. This way you can use the winch on the front OR the back when you go out, and leave that heavy chunk in the garage when you don't need it. .

    Extended warranty or not?

That's too expensive for a 3 year warranty imho. Way higher than I have paid. You know there's certainly a huge $$ on this for the service writer \ finance guy that's trying to sell it to you. You can buy this on your own after the purchase and pay for it as fast or slow as you want to wo...
