Will my brake rotors need to be replaced at 60k?

Do you feel any pulsation in your pedal when stopping? Is that the first 60,000 miles of the vehicle with OEM rotors? Or is that an aftermarket second pair or set?

How to stop upper control arm from hitting springs after a lift

Which manufacturer kit did you use? I used a very basic kit from a rough country to bring it up a couple inches. The suspension seems pretty maxed even with that in place but no binding

    Oil pump

Eric these 5.4 three valve engines have timing chains they do not have timing belts. I know it's a lot but definitely spend an hour or two on YouTube looking up oil pump replacement and low oil pressure on the 5.4 3v engine. You will find everything you need on youtube. So many great videos out...

    Dreaded Humming from Front end

My buddy farmed out the replacement of the Hub the iwe and the axle CV to an independent shop. I think they used all Dorman parts. I want to say the bill was a thousand bucks or more. Crazy. Iwe are not difficult to replace

    Dreaded Humming from Front end

Does the noise go away in AWD mode? Mine did. Hubs first followed by IWEs. IWEs were the root cause. Not a difficult DIY job for either.

2008 Expedition XLT clunking when accelerating and slowing down.

My buddies 2012 Expedition just under 200,000 miles had the same issue. I suggested to him was worn front wheel hub bearings and iwe actuators. He took it to his mechanic and his mechanic diagnosed and fixed the same things. In fact he had to replace his CV axles as well as they were chewed up...

    clicking/clunking in AWD

Sounds like the front wheel hubs and iwe actuators to me. I just replaced them on mine. I've got a couple threads on those jobs. There are quite a few solid YouTube videos on the how tos as well.

IWEs? Noise continues after OEM hubs

Hey I just replaced my iWE actuators in my 2011 expedition. Apologize if this is sloppy voice to text conversion. It went fairly well got better on the passenger side after I did the driver side first. Biggest challenge is I have a big country lift on the front and back of this Expedition so the...

IWEs? Noise continues after OEM hubs

I ordered Motorcraft IWEs. Should have them in later this week. Decided to go Oem this time before trying the lockouts (which didn't seem to have a boot or seal to keep out dirt).

IWEs? Noise continues after OEM hubs

Interesting. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out! Assuming that means the IWE deletes keeps the front shafts turning at all times?

IWEs? Noise continues after OEM hubs

Train your points are taken. Thank you. I have the stethoscope and used it prior before replacing the front hub bearings. One thing I did not do is put all four corners on jack stands and run it in gear.

IWEs? Noise continues after OEM hubs

Gents, I replaced the hubs in my 2012 XLT last month due to me diagnosing the LH hub grinding when spinning by hand. https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/replaced-front-hubs.54669/#post-500602 I'm still experiencing some noise it's kind of a wub wub wub sound when I am slowing down. And I...

To service the transmission, or not service the transmission? That is the question.

Agree. I pulled the pan on mine and changed what was in the pan at 100k. The dipstick measuring procedure which you do underneath the vehicle was interesting but not a big deal. OEM Motorcraft fluid as well.

    Real world MPG results

My 2011 XLT Expedition seems to roll more smoothly and with less resistance since I replaced the front hubs and front and rear brakes (120k) a couple weeks ago. The fuel mileage estimates on the cluster are in the 18.4 range. In the past few years, it's never shown above 16.5 mpg. Is it possible?

    Replaced front hubs

Thanks Ellison. I had no idea what an iwe was until I just researched it. I never considered that could have been part of the problem. At least I know how to get to it now. Jonathan I've not experienced what you are describing. Hopefully some of the more experienced troubleshooters can chime in...
