Just saw this. Sorry it 's now 2 years later. On my 2009, I installed front & rear cameras. I pulled down the ceiling console like you and then with the tailgate open, I removed the little dome light. I was able to push a threaded fiberglass rod set (like they sell at Harbor Freight tools)...
My '09 did just fine in Texas on 87 octane and also just fine in Colorado on 85. The altitude makes a difference in the combustion of the fuel and the ECM computer can compensate for any other differences
You wanna go honk your way through Reynosa. LOL. Anyway, I put Grover air horns on my '09 Expy. You can remove the plastic top in front of the radiator. Then you unbolt the grill from the top and then unhook it from the bottom. You use a screwdriver to push down on the clips holding it in...
Well, every time I think about selling it, I need it for something. So, I guess I'll just keep it. I did some negotiating with the insurance co. and got some more discounts.
Forscan is the way to go. The whole idea behind using LED bulbs is to reduce the power load. Using resistors simulate the stock bulb. Might as well just keep the stock bulb rather than use a resistor that is only there to draw more power from your electrical system. Defeats the purpose of...
I tried that and it didn't work. There is no flasher on my 09. It's all controlled by the module behind the passenger side kick panel. Apparently the trailer plug is on a separate circuit. I wound up going back to the stock bulbs.
It's not hard. I installed a rear camera in my '09 and ran the cable above the headliner. Harbor Freight tools sells a set of fiberglass rods that screw together for running cable in walls. I was able to pass the cable from the front camera all the way to the back like that. You can do that...
The replacement regulator I bought was from Advance Auto Supply. I lived in an apartment then and had no place to work. I found a shade tree in a Kingdom Hall parking lot and changed it there.. The window still works fine, but the auto up/down has never worked since then. But I just hold the...
You have to reset the computer. There is a procedure to do that. It's not hard. I have a 2009 and I replaced my regulator. I assume you have auto up/down. That is what needs resetting.
Back in the 60s, I had a pair of ramps made from a piece of railroad tie that I sawed in half at a great angle with a bow-saw. Heavy but strong. used them for years til someone stole them.
Second that... My son-in-law has my '03 F150 4.6 that I sold him 7 years ago. He has almost 300K on it now and it still runs fine. I think the 4.6 is the better engine.
Meanwhile, back in the jungle....... The earlier models are chugging along just fine. My '09 EL XLT is doing just fine. Only minor things. Like the blend door from dash to floor vents is blocked and stripped the gear on the little motor. No big deal. I just use the dash vents for heat by...
I wish they still made the Excursion. I would like to have one. '06 was the last one. I still see them around though. Some guys are putting Cummins diesel engines in them.
I like my .09. I can put 8 people in there with seat belts for everyone and rear A/C. Or I can fold all the seats flat and haul 10 or more sheets of 4X8 plywood or sheetrock. I can put a refrigerator in there laying down. I can put a full size mattress in there and sleep on it if I'm driving...
To get the code, you must remove the passenger side kick panel. Behind that, you will find the smart fuse panel. You must remove the screws that hold it and look on the back of it. There you will find the code. I just partially removed it and used a mirror and took a picture with my phone...
My 2009 EL had that leak. I ordered the bulkhead connector and replaced it. You have to drop the transmission pan because there is a release for the bulkhead connector inside. While you're in there, replace the transmission filter and pan gasket. Button everything back up and fill it back up...
My '09 2WD has that. My driveway is uphill into my garage. With the TC on, it alternates rapidly between the L and R rear wheels trying to find traction on the ice and frozen snow. If I turn it off, I can make it into the garage easier by spinning both wheels to gain a little traction. My...
