I swapped the throttle body on my 17 limited when this happened a few times. It’s an easy swap and wasn’t too expensive. Was right around 90k miles too.
Just want to say that this thread was really helpful to me, so thank you to everyone who posted! The CEL code P051B popped up multiple times even after clearing it. The replacement part is FL3Z-6758-A. The original part is FL3E-6758-CC, which the dealer could not look up. No codes since...
Do a quick search on it. Theres a few vids that explain it. and countless discussions on the web sites / forums. Even if you just searched for PCV to learn how it works, that would help you. Turbo's add more pressure to the cylinders which can create more 'blow by'. that makes the PCV...
Well, its installed! Was pretty easy if you ask me. So long as you have a heat gun! Here's the write up, with some pics.
https://geargambler.blogspot.com/2019/08/jlt-oil-separator-install-2017.html
For those following this thread, I found that some mustang folks have the oil separator for sale on ebay for much less than buying new. I’ll be picking one of those up and modifying it to lengthen the hoses so it works for my 2017 expedition limited. If it works, I’ll do a quick write up on...
Thank you for mentioning the transfer case fluid. I did read about that. The motorcraft stuff is pretty expensive ($40 per qt on amazon?). Valvoline makes a transfer case fluid that meets the XL12 spec that is WAY less expensive...
I know the procedures. I'm asking here about the fluid to be used.
I have a 2017 Expedition Limited.
Front differential - 80w90 with no friction modifier
Rear Differential - 75w 140 synthetic, with friction modifier 2.75 quarts (3).
Transfer Case - XL12 transfer case fluid. 2 quarts.
Let...
That is classic! My first time towing with this 2017 limited was with a 24 foot enclosed trailer with a 2016 mustang in it. I was delivering it to the philly auto show because the weather was crappy. It was a slow ride down, getting used to the sway control. I think I could have moved the...
Interesting that you're the second one to mention these tires. And I appreciate the info on the PSI - I had not considered that. Typically I would just keep the tire pressure at the rated pressure (xl rated tire). I do understand that the load range E can go to the higher PSI!
Agreed! Comfortable towing is the entire package. I completely understand (won't get into details). For this thread, I'm just talking about where the rubber meets the road! nice to see another tire that works great in snow and has the credentials to tow with!
All good points above. I can say this for sure - the mustangs definitely stop better after the upgrades. But they aren't your typical daily driver cars, they certainly aren't 'stock' and they do see track time. The expedition absolutely stops better, likely due to the better pad quality...
The unmachined part of the rotor is not painted, I dont think. Let me get some good pictures up today. I'll message you and I'm SURE we can work something out!
I'm very pleased with them.
Doing front and back at the same time means when the rotors are brandished / bedded, they all get bedded at the same time. If you don't do all four, there's really no way to bed the front but not the back... Maybe I'm just over thinking it, but when it comes to...
I had a feeling that higher content ethanol wouldn't be an issue with a calibration in place. The 5.4 flex fuel expeditions have the ethanol sensor on them. I'm sure the ecoboost expeditions do too! Those sensors will show the exact ethanol content via voltage (you can even get a gauge to...
The dealership installed new front rotors and pads before I brought my 17 limited home. I removed them shortly after and installed the powerstop z36 extreme front and rear rotors and pads. The rears are not worth using (maybe original?), but the fronts are in nearly perfect shape. They have...
I know that feeling! I'm waiting for an 8.8 rear housing to be done - its at the shop to be cleaned / prepped / powder coated. Once it's back I can start assembly! The anticipation is killer! This is for my 94 mustang GT.
