Figured I would update what my issues were... Apparently I had a faulty sensor. DPFE and EGR solenoids were my culprits originally. The new DPFE that I had installed was faulty, changed it again and now I'm misfire free.
Been awhile since I posted... Installed the trans go E4od-hd2 shift kit. Couldn't be happier with how firm the shifts are now. Also got my hands on some PI heads from an '03 for free. Working on cleaning those up and getting them ready for when I rebuild the engine. As of now I'm at just shy of...
Ok sorry for the delay... Went through everything over the weekend. All sensors are working as they should, coil packs are firing strong, plugs are all clean and now I have fresh gaskets throughout the intake, figured there may have been a small leak somewhere. Well it's still missing and...
I don't see a 5psi difference causing my engine to stumble as hard as it does... It runs smooth in all other rpms too so that's another reason I don't see the slight difference causing any issues. This weekend I will be checking the EGR ports on the intake. If those are clear I will be...
Well that was a lot of fun... Compression tested and all is good, I think... All cylinders are at 170psi except cyl 6 which is at 165 psi. I can't remember the range/pressure that is within spec for these modular engines.
EGR valve is new along with pipe from manifold. I just rechecked all vacuum line and didn't find anything out of ordinary. I was reading another post where the ports for the EGR get clogged. I will check those next, but my problem isn't at idle, it's during accelerating lightly and right at...
Sorry haven't been on in awhile, phone has been giving me issues. Anyways like the title states, I have a random miss at around 1200 rpms. I have new coil packs, plugs and a new throttle position sensor already installed(all motorcraft) and nothing has changed. I cleaned the MAF and IAC with no...
Stupid phone has been not letting me log in. Truck has been done now for a few weeks. I've put close to 800 miles on it now. Definitely need a shift kit, she's a little sluggish on the shifts. Still working on reinstalling the interior, as the headliner decided to come apart. Oh well little by...
Started the truck today for the first time since back in September. Got the transmission installed and had to fill it with trans fluid so decided to start it in short bursts until the full 4.5 gallons was in. This thing sounds mean without an exhaust. That's the next next thing, exhaust work...
I would look at the undercarriage first and if it's in good condition I would jump on that.
If there is a miss I would say change plugs and coil packs.
It's installed!!! Let me say that the transmission and transfercase together with the torque converter in it is stupid heavy!
Picture was taken right before I got the crossmember put in.
Well I got my transmission rebuilt and installed last night/today. I have been chipping away at it as much as possible. Tomorrow I'm going to try to get the exhaust and suspension in. Looks like I might actually meet my goal of having this beast road worthy by next weekend.
So forgot to take pics of the rest of the internals. It was another clutch pack then the pump assembly. All the valve bodies are back in and the transmission is completed. Now I'm connecting the transfercase and this should be married to the engine by later tonight or sometime tomorrow.
I know this picture is blurry but f this snap ring in particular! It's on the output shaft inside the transmission if anyone is wondering and its in a very tight location.
Ok so intermediate clutch set, fwd planetary and the shell are installed. Forgot to get pics of the new stuff but here's what I got. You can see the fwd planetary and the shell.
Instead of loading a million pics of piece by piece, here's everything lined up. I have the new clutches soaking in new fluid in a bucket and I will hopefully be putting everything together tomorrow.
Not a how to but just some pictures of the guts inside my transmission. Figured I would share some pics while I have it apart. I'm uploading from my phone and for some reason it's only letting me do one pic at a time so bear with me here.
Another possibility... The resistor for the fan? I had to replace mine and the pigtail cause mine was melted, happened before I got mine, just noticed the fan didn't work except for high speed.
