You’ve only replaced 3 of the coils… how old are the remaining 5? I chased random misfires until I changed all the coils. Now it runs perfect. That would be my first go to. I also bought a $90 code reader and kept it with me so I could diagnose at will. That has saved me hundreds of dollars by...
I have found the best way to eliminate battery corrosion is a good coating of synthetic lithium grease on the terminal and connector after you make the connection and tighten it down. Since I started this practice I have been corrosion free for years and years. Very simple and maintenance free.
Keep it for sure! I have a 2003 that I am going to drive the wheels off of it, unless it gets into an accident. That is the only way I am getting rid of mine. If you use yours as a utility vehicle as well as a passenger vehicle, the older models have more room than the new ones. I can lay a 4X8...
Just curious on the engine you have. I know the 3 valve's had an issue with the cam phaser's right around that year. Just a shot in the dark, but something to consider having checked before just throwing money at it. Hope you figure it out!
If you have tested all the other doors and have installed a new door switch that should have taken care of it. If you are still having an issue, then it may something else. That would be beyond my amateur mechanical skills. I wish you the best of luck!
My 03 EB had the door ajar/dome light on problem, so thought I'd share what I learned.
After spraying all the latches with wd-40 didn't work, I had to find which switch was causing my problems
and I didn't want to dissasemble all 4 doors. There's another way.
To do this it's helpful to have an...
The cost of basic repairs versus payments is huge. Keeping up on general items that wear out is much more cost effective. Even if you had to replace the engine, it would basically be worth 1 year of payments. Do the math on a new or newer used Expedition and you will see how much that would cost...
The low beams are ok, I would prefer more light for sure. The high beams are very good. Unfortunately I don't have the purchase info anymore. There are lots of options out there, take your time and read the reviews. Make the best informed decision you can. I do like the LED accents they add alot...
The reality is it's all about the child and momma. The SUV is the logical choice and overall functionality for transporting a newborn is going to be your main factor. When kids arrive on the scene, all else is secondary. Our Expedition was the best purchase, we had a labrador too. Just get the...
I had this with an old Mercury Marquis is used to have. My mechanic hooked up and told me the code in a couple minutes for free. The Ford Dealer wanted $50 to give me the code. If you have a good mechanic, give him a call.
I've used The synthetic blend at the Ford Dealer since only 5000 miles on mine. I now have 185000 on it. I've been very fortunate in that I don't have any leaks nor do I worry about burning oil in between changes. I change it every 5000 miles and it been a very good vehicle. I hope others have...
My doors do the same thing. I have a theory that my 15 year old vehicle has weatherstripping around the door that has basically flattened and does not create the cushioned seal which originally kept the does from rattling. I am planning on replacing the door seals which should hopefully fix that...
I have 190,000 on my '03 and am finally doing suspension work. Engine runs like a top, no oil consumption and everything works as it should. Basic maintenance and upkeep makes for a reliable vehicle that will take care of you for years and years. The only way I get rid of this one is if it gets...
I use Amsoil synthetic lithium grease. I am out of town right now so I can't send you a picture right now. But I am sure any brand would work that is at you local auto parts store.
Here's a general battery maintenance tip. Coat your terminals with a synthetic lithium grease and reattach your cables. You will never have any type of corrosion ever. My '03 has 176,000 on it and I just stay with the maintenance schedule and address anything else that comes up immediately. It...
If it wasn't so loud, I would theorize front wheel bearings. But that growl seems pretty loud, almost like a shudder/vibration. Can't wait to hear what this is.
