    This was the problem. It was the top joint though. Rather than pay $300 to replace it I took it out, cleaned it up really well and soaked it in Deep Creep overnight. It's not like brand new but the steering is perfect.

    I put an 04 navigator hood on mine. but that also involves the header panel, headlights, bumper and fenders. that stuff will all bolt right on though with ever so slight modification for the fender mounting...spacers because it's higher on the sides.

    As far as I know they'll all bolt right on...from Get 1 right up to the current model. Speaking from experience I can only say that the gen 1 and gen 2 Navigator mirrors will work on a gen 1 and gen 2 Expedition. Beyond that All I can say is that the Wiring harness for a gen 2 is different...
