electric clutch not engaging at idle

It's a 2007. Turns out part of the problem is a broken fan blade, but the clutch definitely gives up when it gets hot. I shorted the 'control' wire to ground and as long as the temperatures were relatively normal the fan would kick on and stay on, but with extended idling (like over 20...

2007 Expy - BCM module does not appear in Forscan

You probably have the wrong scan tool. To access everything in your Expedition, you need a scan tool that can access both the high speed and medium speed CAN data buses. There's one on Scantool.net that can do this automatically, you can find a few cheaper ELM clones with physical MS/HS...

    Favorite Forscan changes?

I have a 2007...you just flip the dome light switch all the way down and get that same effect lol

electric clutch not engaging at idle

I have one of the few model years with the odd as hell electric clutch fan. Seems there's some kind of relay or heater or something that's supposed to make it kick on and off while idling. The problem i have is it works properly when cold (Ice cold AC, the fan cycles on and off) but once the...

    Heater hose

Yep, that's the hill. Mine started leaking at the quick-connect by the supply pipe to the rear heater, then two days after I replaced that fitting the hose actually blew off of the T at the engine end on 494.

    Heater hose

See if I had been SMART I would have done that. Instead, I used paper towels, propane torpedo heater, dehumidifier and a baby diaper (the diaper was to get the water out of the PCM connections). Misfire is totally gone now.

    Heater hose

Story time: Yesterday the heater hose blew on my 2007 Expedition while I was climbing a long, shallow hill leading from the Mississippi river valley to I35E in Saint Paul. 3 gallons of antifreeze blew all over everything under the hood, and I fixed it on the side of I-494. I also got all...

    2007 Expedition - Surging/Bucking while Driving - No Codes - No Misfires

@OP - Check fuse #74 under the hood. My 2007 had that fuse socket a bit loose. Try wiggling it with the engine running, like you'd wiggle a loose tooth. I had my 07 acting like it was posessed by demons - it was revving for no reason, the tranmission was slipping, it was setting codes that...

    2007 Expedition-EL

Dealer who did the cam phasers, timing chain and oil pump is owned by my uncle - absolutely sure that they did the work. He told me that the chain guide had split in two when they got the front of the engine off. Where are the roof channels? The exterior looks fine on top. As for...

    2007 Expedition-EL

My 2008 Expedition was being an absolute pain in the rear, and I was getting tired of using the luggage carrier any time I wanted something bigger than a gallon of milk in the back. I found an almost flawless (except rotted out rocker panels) 2007 Expedition-EL at a used car dealer in KY. They...

    2008 expedition

Got rid of this horrible piece of junk :) It started misfiring like crazy and I don't know any priests that are willing to help change the spark plugs. Replaced it with a 2007 in much better condition. Mostly.

    2008 expedition

It’s the 5.4 from the era where a simple spark plug job can be over $8000 because they used those silly multi piece spark plugs with only 4 or 5 threads. October 2008 they switched to traditional plugs. This is my 3rd 5.4 and they’ve all been reliable as can be but the first one with the bad...

What to look for when buying a gen3 expy

Thats horrible. I’ve always had this dream of finding a sunroof free Expedition to avoid rocker rust. Well, if I ever find one without rust I’ll add a few more drains to the rockers. On mine, nature added it’s own rocker drain.

What to look for when buying a gen3 expy

Every single one of these that I’ve ever seen has rusty rocker panels, even vehicles that are absolutely spotless otherwise. It’s the sunroof drains. Some freaking idiot at Ford thought draining them into the rocker panels was the best idea ever (I mean it’s a great idea if you want to force...

What to look for when buying a gen3 expy

It’s the 2004 to 2008 that suck. 2008+ are generally ok, but 2004 to October 2008 every single one had those horrific multiple piece spark plugs

Sand driving - manual says 'avoid reducing tire pressures'

No, if Ford was worried about that the manual would say never to do it, not to avoid it.

    2018 Expedition vs. 2017 Navigator

You absolutely want the Max unless you aren’t going to use the back row. The regular expedition/ Navigator barely has room for a suitcase behind the 3rd row. The 3rd row headrests just about touch the rear glass. EL/Max has almost enough room for a full size clothes washer behind the 3rd row...

    2008 expedition

Not really sure what I was thinking at the time, but I now have this black 2008 Eddie Bauer Expedition 4x4 I think it was previously owned by a drug dealer, minor damage to the right rear looks like where the cops would have hit it in a PIT maneuver and there are coffee grounds or tobacco...

    2008 Navigator questions

The rear wiper one was super easy, the bolt was loose that holds the wiper arm on. Tightened it up, it works properly now.

Reset the "service air suspension" message

I have a 2008 Navigator and as far as I can tell the air suspension is working perfectly, the compressor comes on for 5 or 10 seconds when two or three people get in the back and I hear a valve open and then a sound like a leaking tire when they get back out. Is there a way to reset this message?

    2008 Navigator questions

If I ever have the $100K+ to buy one of these new the first thing I'd do is punch some holes in the rocker panels

    2008 Navigator questions

I traded my 2006 Suburban for a 2008 Navigator and so far, other than feeling cramped since I couldn't find the extended model, it's been a great car. I learned from the dealer that the water pump fell apart on the Suburban the day after I traded it in (at 302,000 miles, it's not like it was an...

    Traction options?

I literally just traded a 2006 Suburban for a 2008 Navigator and the Navigator blows the Suburban's traction control away. They both had about 50% remaining on the tires, and both vehicles go just fine in a straight line, but whatever the Navigator does so that you can have 4WD and turn at the...

front bearings/hubs; any brands to avoid?

I've heard nothing but bad about all the big chain brands, I had really good luck with some NAPA store brand hubs on a Suburban though. I had to replace both front hubs and they were still going strong about 20,000 miles later

    Sunroof Drain Terminations

Well - my driver's side rocker panels just rusted out - and it just so happens that the GIGANTIC hole in the driver's side rocker panel is right where the sunroof drain comes out behind the rear passenger door. How do I know this? Cause it's a huge freaking hole and I can see the drain tube...
