Thank you for the reply. Its been extremely cold here the last few days. Next week when its above zero I'm going to investigate further.

    Leaking fluid from front

Recently I noticed two very small puddles under the front end of my 2005 Expedition. There was one on each side almost directly under the tie rods where they enter the rack and pinion. My gut was to order a new rack and pinion, but a coworker advised me to investigate further. I'm glad I did...

    Camshaft replacement due to scoring

Just an update. I did NOT replace the cams nor did I remove the oil pan. I did LIGHTLY sand the cam journals with emery cloth and cleaned them with brake clean before reinstalling them. I removed all the broken plastic guide pieces and accounted for them all. As for the 'metal shavings' floating...

P0420 code after filling gas tank

Update. I was able to resolve this issue with a bottle of CataClean for less than 30 bucks. No more CEL code P0420. Also my fuel millage increased from 12 MPG to 15 MPG. I highly recommend this product to anyone with catalytic converter issues.

I have this same issue. Any resolution to the problem?

C1095 error. Replace the pump side, electric side, or whole pump?

I did not reprogram the as-built. What I did, which probably didn't really do anything, was to plug the 'new' junkyard control module into the truck. I started the truck and the warning lights/message came right back. Before doing anything I checked the pins on the wire harness as outlined by...

C1095 error. Replace the pump side, electric side, or whole pump?

I know this post is from last year, but I am having a similar issue. How did the repair go? Is it possible that there is an electrical short in the wiring harness? I tried a different ABS control module but it did NOT fix the issue.

Will 4x4 Work With ABS INOP

Very odd. My 2005 has the ABS light and the AdvacTrac light both on, as well as a warning in the information center stating the AdvacTrac is malfunctioning. Both AWD and 4WD work. The ABS doesn't work though. I have been trying to track my issue down to no avail. I'm actually writing a post...

    Troubleshooting Help Wanted.

This is going to sound a bit strange, but has the throttle body every been cleaned? The reason I ask is that a dirty throttle body will 'mimic' other types of issues. I don't know if the throttle body of first generations are electronic or not. When the electronic throttle bodies become caked...

    Aftermarket Remote start

I have an Avital remote start which I purchased several years ago for an Expedition I no longer have. I recently purchased another Expedition and plan on installing the remote starter. It kind of bugs me that there really isn't any SPECIFIC instructions and/or step by step direction with it. If...

    06 Expedition Aftermarket Mods help

Welcome to the forum. I'm on my third Expedition. I've owned a first generation 1998 XLT, a second gen 2005 Eddie Bauer and currently own a 2005 Limited. I bought my current 05 for 2500 bucks! It needed the cam phasers replaced and a complete timing job. What a learning experience that was. I...

This is one of the videos I watched, but apparently I didn't notice she skipped the seat removal tutorial. :D:rolleyes: SUV CONVERSION Pt. 2 - Insulation Framing & Flooring | 2005 Ford Expedition Camper Overlander Build

I just watched a YouTube video on this vey topic, I'll check my history and post here if I can find it.

    Timing job complete!

I tried half a dozen times and the gauge never came up. My son found a post elsewhere which indicated on SOME model years the gauge wouldn't operate without CONTINUIOS pressure. It went onto state that since only the 'top end' was worked on, there would be sufficient oil remaining on critical...

    Timing job complete!

So today I was able to completely reassemble my 2005 Expy. I left the crank shaft sensor unplugged as directed by FordTechMakuloco Brian. I cranked over the motor and waited 20 seconds for the oil pressure 'gauge' to come up to indicate oil pressure. The gauge didn't move. I understand that its...

Newer factory stereo w/Sync into 2nd generation Expy

Curious if anyone has researched and/or successfully installed a newer Ford Factory stereo with Sync into a 2nd generation Expedition. I know the simple fix for outdated stereos is to install aftermarket systems. I however like the Sync infotainment interface. Thanks for any input.

    Timing job complete!

Well I guess I'm the lucky one. LOL. I'm on the second go round of installing this oil pump and it feels as if the bolts are going to snap AGAIN! I set the torque wrench to HALF the specified torque of 89 inch pounds. I'm even using a different WRENCH! It still feels as if I continue to snug...

    Camshaft replacement due to scoring

Thank you all for the input. The truck is in decent shape for an 05. The previous owner replaced the rocker panels, since we live in Michigan. The design of those is poor as far as a way for water and salt to escape. Every one I've ever owned gets clogged with mud and the salty water just sits...

    Camshaft replacement due to scoring

I have short finger nails, so I cannot really tell. That picture in the above post IS of the passenger side cam and its the space between the back lobs and the next one forward. Sorry I don't know which cylinder number it is. Why? Would that be a tell tale sign of something? The timing chain...

    Camshaft replacement due to scoring

I'm working on a complete timing job on an 2005 Expedition 5.4l 3v engine. I've been following FordTechMakuLoco's video series. I removed the cam and followers today. Upon inspection and cleaning I noticed some scoring in the shaft of the cam assembly that resides under the cam towers. I watched...

    Timing job complete!

I'm still working on it. I have too much going on right now. LOL. I ran into an issue with the bolts for the replacement oil pump. Although not technically part of the timing job, Ford TechMakuLoco suggest to upgrade to the high volume pump while the front cover is removed. It makes sense to...

    Timing job complete!

I tried to comment on your YouTube video. I'll say it here; AWESOME! I'm knee deep in an 05 complete timing job and as you alluded to in your video, I could not have even gotten this far without Brian "Ford Tech Makuloco" either. I've watched the video series on this repair at least a half...

    Paint for valve covers

Can anyone recommend a suitable spray paint (can) that would hold up on the valve covers on a 5.4 Triton? I see there is 'high heat' paint for temps up to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm not sure the valve covers get that hot. The paint seems to be a pain to cure. The instructions talk about...

    Cam Phaser engine damage

On the 5.4 and the 4.6 ignoring the failed cam phasers WILL destroy the engine. I owned an 05 which had the engine replaced at 100,000 miles because the previous owner was told the noise was a 'normal' noise caused by a manifold leak. He was driving on the highway and the engine made a LOUD ****...

KeylessOption Keyless Entry Remote Control Car Key Fob

Thanks for the response. I don't think that its referring to the transponder since it says it works with the security system and needs to be programmed.
