    5.4/4R70W Stock Torque Converter?

I've been searching for hours trying to find a clean cut answer to this question... What is the STOCK torque converter for a 2004 5.4L with 4R70W trans? I need to buy a new converter for this trans and it looks like I have two options. FM69 (1900-2200 Stall Speed) and FM69L (1600-1800 Stall...

    4R70W, Direct Drum Question

So I recently lost 3-4 gear in my 2004 5.4L EB. Pulled the trans (4R70W) and disassembled. This is the first time I've done any transmission work, but everything that I inspected seemed to be fine. Except... the direct clutch drum. I read quite a few blog posts and watched some videos and was...

2004 5.4L - Removed Transmission. Engine Rocked Back?

Long story short... I have a 2004 Expedition 4WD with the 5.4L. Broke the direct clutch drum in the transmission, so it had to come out. Before this one, I'd never removed a transmission. I read a ton of forum/blog posts and watched some youtube videos... and overall, I'd say I did fairly well...

    2004 5.4L - Have I ruined my transmission?

I have a 2004 5.4L Eddie Bauer. About a month ago, my wife was driving and lost 3rd and 4th gears. I did some research and thought that I had narrowed the issue to a problem in the valve body. So... about 3 weeks ago, I dropped the pan, drained the fluid and removed the valve body for...

2004 5.4L - Front Brake Caliper Banjo Bolt Torque?

Thanks for that Mike. I torqued the banjo bolts to 26 ft-lb and they leaked. Went to 36 ft-lb and they still leaked. Ended up switching to thinner washers and using the ratchet to tighten the bejesus out of them. Not leaking so far... This was with new calipers and new brake hoses.

    2004 5.4L - A/C System Questions

If I recall... Low side - 30, High Side - 150. Edit: I've read that these pressures are spot on for a Ford TXV system. It was around 72 degrees when I got these readings.

    2004 5.4L - A/C System Questions

A/C compressor on my 2004 5.4L started making whirring sound (increased with RPM). Ruled out the clutch as the cause, so decided to play it safe and replace the compressor. I don't wish this repair on anyone. Drained oil from compressor, condenser and accumulator. Looked good... some dye, but...

    New Brake Caliper/Banjo Bolt

2004 Expedition 5.4L Replaced front driver side caliper and brake hose today. (First time doing calipers) The banjo bolt that was included with the caliper does not thread into the caliper by hand. It starts, maybe 1-2 threads, but cannot be screwed in any further. Thought... ok, maybe bad...

This is the drivers side. Green arrow is pointing to the member in question. Rocker panel is to the left and body mount is at the top of the shot. Here is the passenger side. Higher up on the passenger side. (On the other side of the frame and up against the floor pan) This area has...

2004 Expedition - What is this body member?

I have a 2004 5.4 Expedition (Eddie Bauer). I live in Maryland and have to run this vehicle through safety inspection. I learned that my rusted out (non-existent) rockers will fail me, so I'm preparing to fix those. While I was checking the inner rockers, I noticed a rusted body member that runs...
