Hey y'all.
Looking to be getting a bumper pull camper here in the near future and wanted to get advice as to what The Dutchman's towing capability would be? I'm hoping for about a 22ft trailer.
It's a '00 Eddie Bauer, 5.4L V8.
I think I'll be starting to become a regular at my scrapyard too--I find it great fun and a great learning experience. Ours is the kind where you go pick your part yourself which is nice. I love having an older vehicle--easier to fix and maintain. :D
Well, went to the scrapyard and they always remove the batteries first so that wasn't a worry. Was able to get the valance off with elbow grease and more than a few curses and a scraped up hand but with much satisfaction--my boyfriend helped with a 2-3 of the bolts but I did most of the work...
Hi, y'all. Lots happening with The Flying Dutchman.
So my the lower valance with my front bumper (where my fog lights and tow hooks are) is needing replacing (zip ties are holding part of it on) and I wanted to know how hard it is to remove. The scrapyards in my area have a few for less than...
Good to know. I was going to be lazy today but now I'm going out to screw around with The Dutchman. Went a couple scrapyards yesterday and found some replacement cosmetic parts (local car wash ripped off my front passenger door trim a few weeks ago ). Plus new knobs for my lumbar support and my...
I want to put LED bulbs on The Dutchman's fog lights--can I just switch them out with the current halogens? I am going to be keeping the stock fog lights for now but I just want brighter bulbs.
OK so I thought I had this solved by what I found on the forum yesterday but now I'm not so sure.
I want to replace the headlights on The Dutchman but the ones I want are out of stock everywhere. The lightning I think they are called. So I'm ready to just have the stock headlights restored and...
I've actually never used the keypad on my door--just the remote or manually pushing the locks down or the lock button on the inside of the driver and front passenger door.
This was a super helpful post for me--I'm looking at replacing my headlights because they are so fogged up and I was wondering if I should bother spending $50 to have them restored or just replace them with new ones. Couldn't find any that decent reviews on Amazon but now I know exactly which...
Hi y'all.
So The Dutchman's door locks are not unlocking with the remote or the door unlock/lock buttons except once in a blue moon. The click sound is there but the locks don't move...is this a fuse or something else entirely? It did this only a little bit when I first bought this thing back...
Hey, y'all.
I just need to know if the front wheel bearings on my truck are press or bolt on?
Thanks in advance. I hope to be on here a lot more here in the near future as my mechanic and I start getting some real work done The Flying Dutchman, my 2000 Eddie Bauer. :D
Hi, y'all.
So I had a new stereo (Kenwood) installed on The Dutchman (it's a 2000 Eddie Bauer edition with the Mach system) back in March (first time the audio has worked since I bought it back in August 2017) and now my factory sub is almost completely blown out. It's still working but it...
Gal, actually, LOL.
And no, we didn't do any engine cleaning when we changed the battery. Only cleaning it's had was on the exterior back in August by my husband.
The squeal actually would start up after the engine had warmed up and worsened when the alternator started dying.
The Dutchman is...
It has 105k miles on it and has an aftermarket air intake/exhaust system (I'm not sure the right terminology...I'll have to get a pic of the engine). Fuses are on my list of things to check, I just haven't had the opportunity to check them yet. I'll probably add that to the list for the mechanic.
Current issues with The Flying Dutchman:
- alternator needs replacing
- shifts hard into 2nd gear
- gauge and dash lights don't work (but the idiot lights work somehow)
- driver seat heating doesn't work
- high pitch squeal/whine after about 20 mins of driving (probably was the alternator...
