A good rule of thumb - if the battery has been in long enough to give it's complete service life, you can all-but guarantee that the terminals/ cables are corroded. I thought I'd share my mechanical experiences on our new to me 1999 Expedition...
A great many of our older trucks experience this - the Expedition as well as the F-Series trucks. It's a Ford thing... There are a few videos on youtube to help you understand where these two (2) bolts are. You will need a TORX bit and driver or small ratchet to tighten them; I want to say T30...- justKen

I think I've found the front end clunking when 4x4 engaged....?
^^^^^^^^^^ THIS - get that diff cover off and clean it out. You'll likely need to replace the seal on that side as well. It is **possible** you can walk away from this relatively unscathed other than some funky 90wt. and a couple hours of work, but every turn this axle/ diff makes is like...- justKen

97 expedition air bag to coil spring
There is typically only one (1) insulator per spring used. This is to lessen the amount of vibration and road noise transferred via the spring from the axle into the truck body. Place an insulator over the spring seat/ place the spring on it's seat/ done. /K- justKen

Two (2) jacks - one with a 4x4 between it's saddle and the truck - and your child lying beside the truck. Please tell me the jack stands are present, but not visible in these photos... /K- justKen

Do you have the 4-wheel air suspension? If so, the most direct way to address the swap is to order one of the kits. This will provide you with the rear coils and replacement coil-over shocks for the front, each replacing their respective air suspension component. Do make sure you're getting...- justKen

Found the vacuum leak in the plastic supply line for the front axle actuator. Cut out the section that had become hard & brittle on both the 2wd and 4wd lines/ buttoned it up with rubber vacuum tubing. My "rathers" would be that the t-case is swapped for a manual, floor shift t-case from an...- justKen

Heartbreaking News Article
I have never been able to understand how a parent "forgets" their child. For the record - we have a 7 y/o Autistic/ non-verbal son, so I know how consuming it is to care for a special needs child. All the more troubling how one could be "forgotten". Where are people's minds? /K- justKen

My favorite & worst part of my expedition is...
Favorite would likely be a tough pick - solid 9.75" rear axle is among the leaders. Least favorite would probably be a tie between engine access and the rear liftgate. /K- justKen

Lifted Expeditions of EF.com (picture post)
'98 EB - Air suspension ditched for 2 1/2" Spacer & TT, 35x12.50x17. Wheels, bumpers, winch and roof rack are all on the list. I truly believe these trucks should have left the factory in similar set up. /K- justKen

The short answer - No. If you wish to keep the air suspension, you can move the height sensors (one rear/ one front) just a bit and achieve maybe an additional inch or so of lift. Need help ID-ing issue with bearings
Universal Joints - Front & Rear Pinion Bearings - Front & Rear Beyond these, and you're sure the front bearings are good (rears?), carrier bearings can squeal and make an awful banshee-like racket if they're run hot/ no gear oil. /K -
Full suspension upgrade
That is my understanding, but I could be amiss. There are a number of folks here that would surely know more about them than would I; I had begun researching torsion bar options when I decided to move that a bit down the list for a while as I decide on some other possible projects. /K- justKen
