Everything is stock. Except.... an aftermarket DVD player. I wonder if that switch lets the DVD player have power with the ignition off? I'l try that. Seems odd though. How much do you really let the kids watch movies with the car off? Hardly seems worth the switch. Be nice if it was DRLs...
My new-to-me 2016 Limited has an aftermarket switch on the dash. I just can't figure out what it does. It's just left of the steering wheel and it's just on/off. There are 2 red wires coming off the switch. One seems to head off to the fuse box. The other is connected to a blue wire below...
I guess you got this taken care of? I had a similar issue with a new-to-me 2016 limited. I had to do the update via USB because it was so large. It easily went from v1 to v3. I chatted with Ford’s SYNC support before I did it. They were very helpful. I think from now on I’ll be fine to let...
I think the previous owner wired this switch into the trailer brake. I think that blue wire specifically controls the trailer brake. Why on earth would someone want to turn off their trailer brake and only use the tow vehicle brake?
I haven’t used the expy to tow my RV yet (I’ve only owned...
I hooked it up to my trailer, thought maybe the switch was an override for the trailer lights. Nope. I did look behind the panel and took a pic. There are 2 red wires going to the switch. I followed them and they are tied in to a blue wire that disappears into a plastic panel.
No evidence of anything added on. I'll check the headlight/brights idea. I'm not going to pop the panels off; I don't have the time. If I can get my phone back there, I'll take some pics of the wiring.
Well, door code is under control. That toggle switch doesn't do a thing that I can find. It doesn't seem to affect the cabin lights at all. I'm just going to leave it off until something doesn't work. Then I'll turn it on.
Maybe it's for nitrous? Maybe it's an automated system for flipping...
I figured out the door code. Thanks! I don't see anything aftermarket in this Expy. I don't see anywhere that something was mounted. I'm not willing to pull the dash. My best guess is an aftermarket alarm that he took with him when he traded in. But why bother with a switch for that?
I just bought a 2016 Expedition EL limited. It has a switch above the dimmer control. I can't figure out what it does and I don't see it in the owners manual. It doesn't look aftermarket. I attached a pic.
Also, what's the procedure for resetting the door code if you don't know the door...
Thanks for the info! All of the platinums here have 20 inch wheels. Seems odd. Price difference on a used 2017 limited vs. Platinum is about $6,000. I can afford it. Just want to make sure it's worth it. It'll be my DD and TV. I currently drive a suburban LTZ; it's like sitting in a lazy-boy...
I plan to buy a 2017 Expedition EL. I live in Utah, but what is available to buy is mostly prior rental units. I found one I liked, but it had a whistling noise from the cabin a/c that they couldn't/ wouldn't fix. Is this typical of the Expys?
I'm looking at another 2017 Expy EL today. It...
