22” to 20” wheels - better for towing?

I wouldn't think the drop from 22" to 20" would be that profound for towing. Definitely can help the ride, though. Bigger change would be making sure you've got the appropriate tires on to help out. I upgraded my 20" Limited tires to XL rated tires and the rear end is firmly planted when...

Can't find a 23 with APA. Skip APA or go 24?

We have it on my wife's 2018 Expy and neither one of us knows how to use it. Always seemed like the answer to a question no one asked.

Auto Stop/Start *USED* to be disabled- Now it's back

It was the low battery that was disabling the ASS. I went through the same thing a year ago with my 2018.

    BlueCruise 1.2 update?

I just picked up a '23 F150 and the BC hasn't been too impressive for me. The longest run I've had with "hands free" is about 6 miles... Not really worth it. Admittedly the PA turnpike and I95 with construction aren't the best test beds, but in the northeast there are NO good roads that don't...

trans cooler - replace oem - anyone done this?

I have run the Hayden coolers on multiple vehicles in the past and they have always pulled 15° + off of the transmission temps. I was looking at putting one on the expy when I first got it but gave up after reading about the transmission fluid filling issues and warranty concerns. This 10...

    Heavy Duty Towing Trip Report

I added Sumo springs, the upgraded anti-roll bar, and the Bilstein struts all the way around. I also put on XL rated tires. It tows really well now. Just finished another 1100 mile trip and it performed flawlessly. Also bumped up to 91 octane and got another 1.2 MPG.

Any danger in forcing downshifts? Or lugging engine?

Do you have the transmission in tow mode? I just pulled my boat (7500 lbs) a little over 500 miles and it reacted pretty well when I needed to get around slower traffic. It does shift less in tow mode to keep the transmission temps cooler. If you put it on gauge mode you'll likely see that...

    Factory battery life

Mine went about 2.5 years before it started causing issues with the sensors. The one in my Ram lasted just over 3. Lots of electronics that are "always on" just eats batteries up in these new vehicles.

2022 LTD MAX 4WD tires - The Generals gotta go

I had the Conti TerrainContact AT on a previous truck and they were pretty solid. It went with the TerrainContact HT on my Ram 1500 and they were the best tires I've ever had on a truck. I put them on the Expedition and I like them even more for this vehicle. You can read the reviews on them...

Would love some folks thoughts on this, regarding oil changes on this engine.

Twin turbo engine = 5000 miles maximum for oil changes in my book. I usually change at 4500 or so. The oil is relied upon lubrication and for thermal management when you've got boost, so it's cheap insurance as noted above.

Ford quietly redesigned the thermostat in 2022...replace it

A gallon should cover it. I used almost exactly that when I did mine. Had a bit left over.

    Is my mpg reasonable?

It'll improve a bit as you break in the engine, but if you've got the HD tow (not listed in your specs) then that is not all that far off from ours. We get between 12.5-14 on my wife's daily commutes. No highways, just suburban stop and go.

    Caliper Fail

Especially since it's about a $250 fix. Sadly, this is the BS that is dragging Ford's reputation down.

    Caliper Fail

You're missing a guide pin bolt on the back, too. Wonder if something smashed against it hard enough to take out that bolt and damage the caliper housing.

High Belt Line on 4th gens!

I'll second that! I have my wife's Expy parked side by side with my Ram 1500. The engine bays couldn't be more different when it comes to checking oil and general access into the engine compartment. And that is even with the e-torque on my Ram. I absolutely HATE the placement of the dipstick...

If You Could Do it Over, Would You Buy It?

Even with the difficulties we've had, when I bought it there wasn't another option that has the tow rating I needed and the space / seating we wanted. I certainly wish it hadn't gone back to the dealer 5 times in the first year, but it does the job we need it to. Not sure I'll go back to...

Not fully loving this new AA update - No temp/weather display

I've got a 2018 Limited...little screen to work with, unfortunately.

Not fully loving this new AA update - No temp/weather display

I was expecting more with the update and got less. They moved the time to the bottom of the screen which keeps screwing me up, and they took away the temp altogether. In the expy it just sucks. In my Ram it's at least palatable on the bigger screen and I at least have temp readouts from the...

Suggestions on fixing bent bumper corner???

If your efforts fail at the car wash, you might try a PDR guy. They can heat the plastic up enough to reform it without melting the paint. Once it's close they can tack it back in with epoxy or double-stick tape. Won't be perfect, but it'll look better than it does now.

Should it be an Ex Expedition?

I think the last statement is what's turning most people off. Even when a car is a dud, if the company and dealership take care of you it doesn't ever seem that bad. What Ford has been doing lately is just pour salt, lemon juice, vinegar, and battery acid into the wound by treating a lot of...

RIP: 2019 expedition finally died today in the middle of the road - UPDATE blown engine @ 29k miles

That's one ugly rocker. Maybe the timing chain jumped? If they didn't do the tensioners or screwed them up when the phasers were replaced, that seems like a logical explanation. Either way, hopefully since you're getting an entirely new engine it can be sourced more quickly that just...

Expediton Vs. 23 Yukon Denali Ultimate

One of my coworkers bought a new Yukon Denali and it really is quite nice inside. Tech is well executed, and exterior, as a personal preference, is not bad looking. Ride and NVH are quite nice. Towing capacity is what kills it for me, and I agree that it is ridiculous that they even built it...

All Warning lights staying on, including Park Brake Fault, See Manual, Pre-Collision,etc. Also sends Active Alerts to my Ford Pass app.

If it's after the battery box changeout my money is on a bad ground. These vehicles are sensitive to the mV level for all of the sensors and technology. Bad ground connection will play havoc with that.

    Drilled rotors

I put powerstops on mine, and have put them on my previous Yukon as well. Just ordered a set for my Ram, too (Black Friday sale). Make sure you bed them properly and you should be in good shape. Also have used R1 concepts as well, but I did run into more issues with those up over 30k miles.
