I had an alternator cause the dead battery thing once it got hot, replaced it had no issues after that. When it was cold, charged like a champ, but as soon as it got hot, down it went.
I shifted to straight Stainless Steel Gorilla lug nuts about 10 years ago, they are a little more expensive, but well worth the saving of time and frustration with Chrome Capped lug nuts. One thing I do religiously though, is to use Anti-Seize on the nuts and studs, which is also a time saver.
Had to have the battery wiring harness replaced, the dealer did not clean the battery terminals, and the old battery had a leak at the Positive terminal which caused the terminal post connection to disintegrate. Corrosion was down in the wiring about 2 inches also, causing hard starts, hot or cold.
