So 5W30...
and its the EPA's fault
I've had all those parts replaced twice already. Issue is still coming back so its clearly the pump and the oil based on that video. Honestly shouldn't have to bother with it.
It seems that right now all Ford is admitting to is 2018-april 2019 cam phaser issues.
Thought about rolling the dice again on a 2020 model but definitely don't want to be sitting here again in another 40k miles.
Thanks for explaining further - That makes sense.
Anyone give GM Tahoe or Yukon a go? I've been a ford guy for a long time but looking to trade this vehicle in at this point.
Started reading up on the Sequoia, turned off by the Rusty frame issues.
You lost me about halfway through...
I've had them replaced 2 times already potentially going back for a third after 3 weeks of having the second ones done. I think what you are trying to say is if the phasers are on the high or low side of the tolerances the internal block passage variance...
Yeah I have two trucks produced 3 weeks apart one max one regular both 2018 and one is on its 2nd set of cam phasers at 42k and probably needs a 3rd. The other is on its first set at 50k. So it seems to vary. Only major difference is the non max has the tow package, wonder if the gear ratio has...
1.) I find it acceptable, better then the Explorer but its not a luxury vehicle
2.) I have the tow package on my XLT, I think the springs are stiffer in the back, I find it rougher then my XLT MAX that doesn't have the package
3.) Both of my 2018 XLT's had the following issues:
-Cam Phasers...
4 cars is a complete waste of money.
I'm with you that I need something reliable. I've had 4 different Ford SUVS 2x excursions each of which hit 200K miles no issue. The 2013 Expedition EL hit 160 needed a new water pump but that was really it. I'm shocked I've visited the shop so much with...
Interesting because Mine needs to go back in for potentially a third set. I'm on my second replacement set, the first replacement set eliminated the noise; the second set did not.
Turbo Wastegate; I wonder at 42KSF if I'm under CPO warranty until 48k if it would even be covered. Also I would...
I bought my used with 12k on the clock. So Lemon law wouldn't apply.
Honestly either way I have to spend money on a vehicle...I'm just tired of being at the shop most of all. 1 time okay no big deal, potentially a third I'm over it.
There is a youtube video out there where a mechanic talks...
Well Land Cruiser would be ideal but honestly I bought this as a hauler/beater/family car. I use it for work mostly put about 20k a year on it.
The Toyota Seq. .. they need to change it up.
Agreed. I'm trying to drop mine back off at ford later this week but honestly I might just drive it to another dealers and grab something else.
I like the new Tahoe/Suburbans but they seem to carry their own list of issues these days.
I don't have the paperwork because quite frankly if this keeps doing this I'll just go trade it in. The reason I waited for 30 days the first time was for updated parts that was Jan 2020. Phasers lasted about 7-8 months. First time I had everything they could think of replaced. This time they...
I've had cam phasers and timing chain components replaced twice already. Just got mine back 3 weeks ago and its going back again. Honestly thinking of dumping the truck for a Tahoe at this point. 42K miles 2018 Expy with two package.
They replaced everything on the TSB. I had it done 20,000 miles ago as well and it came back. Seems like this is going to be an on going issue for the life of the vehicle.
