Does anyone else have this issue? I've got a 2010 Limited with the factory touchscreen radio/nav/etc.
When I go to make a phone call while driving, I'll hit the VOICE button on the steering wheel and when it's ready, I'll say "Phone." About half the time, it sets the radio to SiriusXM channel...
This is somewhat "comforting" to hear. I've owned my 2010 for a year and a half and the brake pedal has always felt a bit soft (though if I let off the brakes and then immediately reapply them, the pedal firms up a bit). But the brakes are always responsive. I just had the truck in for another...
Had to change the battery yesterday, kinda suddenly. Wasn't getting any indication that it was about to go out...the truck started right up all the time, but it was a Duralast battery and I don't know how old it with. Its a 2010 and I've only had the truck for just over a year and it had that...
How do the oil life monitors work on the 3rd gens, particularly 2010s?
I don't think they're just a counter to a particular mileage. Currently on my truck, I've got just about 3800 miles and the oil life says 48% remaining...which would put the interval at 8200 miles. Kind of a weird timer if...
Try this: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/maintenance/vehicle-health-report-discontinued-faqs.html
I kept getting that message too on my '10 Limited with the navigation. I basically had to go into the settings of the system and turn off the Health Reporting checks.
When I attempted to look for the code for mine, I only had to pull the kick panel trim off. I didn't pull the door sill plate off as that video above mentions.
Now, I gave up when I saw what was involved beyond that...maybe I would've had to pull the door sill trim? I dunno. But once I put the...
Well, yes, it is intentional given what it is. It's a code to *unlock the vehicle.* Would you really want that in plain sight for anybody to see?
I unfortunately paid to have mine pulled by Ford. I didn't feel comfortable messing with how that box is mounted so while I had it in for some other...
Ever crawl underneath of it? There's a good bit of room between the front of the engine and the radiator. All that plastic shrouding and such up top really covers up that gap when looking at it from above.
Some before and after shots of polishing the roof of my Limited...

Meguiar's Ultimate Compound followed by Meguiar's Cleaner Wax on a DA polisher.
Wow...spendy. Articles I was reading just now said it could clear $100K. I just went over to Ford's site and fully optioned out an Expedition Max Platinum, and that didn't even hit $85K (which is still a lot).
Did an oil change on my Limited today...second one since I've owned it.
While I was at it, I took a stab at trying to get some water spots out of the paint. They've been there at least as long as I've had it and I've washed it a few times since. The spots didn't come out after a wash and a I...
The passenger side interior door handle lost its ability to open the door on my Limited yesterday. It could still be opened from the outside so I figured it wasn't the latch assembly.
I pulled the door panel off this evening and just found that the plastic sleeve around the cable had freed...
I use the door code fairly regularly. At home, I keep my keys upstairs in my nightstand usually. If I'm downstairs/outside and need to get into the truck quick, I can just punch in the code and I'm in.
I've also used it while camping. If we leave the campsite to go out walking and I don't feel...
First tire rotation since I took ownership!
On my lunch break, I took it over to the Ford dealer that's across the street from my office. Got there before any rain started (I always feel bad taking a vehicle in for service when the weather sucks). I did have an appointment and they asked if I'd...
As others have said already, it's the electrochromic (aka, self-dimming) rear-view mirror. And the microphone for the SYNC/Bluetooth is that little vented piece on top of the mirror.
I had bought a pair of headlight assemblies for one of my previous Explorers off of Amazon for about $40 per side. I saw no quality issues with them in the time I owned the vehicle and had them installed; I wasn't terribly picky either about the manufacturer.
Also consider RockAuto.
If you do...
Kind of a silly question, but is there a cup holder insert available that has both holders the same size?
I'm not crazy about he one holder that's tapered; it doesn't fit some cups. The other one that has the squishy things in it (LOL...I don't know what to call them) is nice because it can...
I did the first oil change on my '10 since I've owned it. I bought it back in November and just this past week, it crossed the 5K mile mark since then. It was pretty easy to do; lots of clearance underneath...especially compared to my Mustang GT that I have to use RaceRamps for just to get...
LOL. I blame it on that car...never had gotten into any accidents before owning that vehicle, and never any accidents (except for a couple deer) with any vehicle I've owned after that one. It's the car's fault, not mine. ;)
