    ‘24 Platinum Car Wash Leak

I have this issue when it rains but only if the car is pointed downhill while it’s raining. There seems to be a way for water to get in through the sunroof if it rolls from the back towards the front of the car. I haven’t investigated further to figure out if it can be fixed.

    Oil Change Interval in Winter

5w30 is what's recommend in the manual and on the oil cap so I've never experimented with anything else. 20 weight sounds very heavy to be putting through this ecoboost engine.

    Oil Change Interval in Winter

If I went by the oil life monitor in the car, I wouldn't be changing it until 20,000kms which I'm sure is unhealthy. So I never pay any attention to it. But I just went to look and it is degrading faster than normal. It's currently recommending I change after 10,000 kms (I'm at nearly 5,000...

    Oil Change Interval in Winter

Does anyone change their oil change interval in the Winter? I normaly go 5,000-8,000 kms (not miles) between changes depending on whether I've been towing or not. In winter I don't tow and had thought the oil might last longer than normal because our car seldom even gets heated all the way up...

Has anyone had a smooth shifting 10 speed? Do they all do the occasional clunk?

Our 2019 max platinum has rough shifts sometimes in very cold weather, particularly when coasting to a stop. It's never a problem when it's all warmed up after driving for a few minutes. Yesterday in -15 temps, it got stuck in 4th gear for a few minutes until I shut it off and back on again. So...

22” to 20” wheels - better for towing?

I have 22” summers and 18” winters. The 22s are superior for highway driving and towing since there’s less sidewall flex, less side-to-side movement. They’re a bit more planted. The 18s are nice for city driving since they’re noticeable lighter (better acceleration and fuel economy) and much...

Where is the block heater cord?

I didn’t pay extra for it but it’s a platinum meaning just about everything is supposed to be included; I also called them last week and they said all their vehicles are supposed to come with it now. I’ll ask them about installing one too

Where is the block heater cord?

I can’t find it anywhere so the dealership must have been wrong about there being one. I’d prefer to have one to warmup the oil before starting in the winter and reduce wear on the engine. I’ll see if I can figure out an install in the coming weeks.

Where is the block heater cord?

Where should I find the block heater plug under the hood on a 2019 max platinum? I confirmed with the dealership that there should be one but I can’t see it anywhere from above or below. Should it be obvious if it’s there?

Alarm randomly going off for no reason?

It’s very strange that the word “crack-er” gets auto deleted…

Alarm randomly going off for no reason?

That happened to us several times and it was mice looking for the thousands of ******* crumbs and nuts the kids dropped on a road trip. Traps along the floor fixed the problem quickly and now we keep it much cleaner!

Power Inverter upto 400W suggestions and experiences

I have a portable solar panel that I use in power outages and with our RV. It’s pairs with a charge controller, marine battery, and 1000w pure sine inverter. It’s a lot to lug around for just vacuuming the car but it would do the job and also be useful in emergencies to run the fridge...

    Towing Advice Needed

I also agree that you’ll be fine. The payload is always the limiting factor and it sounds like you’re comfortably inside the limits. There’s quite a bit of buffer built into Ford’s recommended limits so I wouldn’t skimp on bringing enough propane and water in the trailer. The absolute max...

    Mileage and switch to 5W30

My oil cap says 5w30 right on it; do some expeditions call for a different weight? I've been happy with 5w30 through my first 75,000kms and have always changed the oil myself with 5w30 starting with the first oil change around 3,000 kms.

Any danger in forcing downshifts? Or lugging engine?

That looks interesting. I already have a Fixd in the OBD port but I could swap them out depending on whether I'm towing and getting error codes.

Any danger in forcing downshifts? Or lugging engine?

Interesting, I didn't realize it would reduce heat buildup to stay in a lower gear. I thought it should be the opposite since it feels like there's more strain on the engine when it's under pressure in a high gear instead of opening up in a lower gear. Thanks for the info.

Any danger in forcing downshifts? Or lugging engine?

Our engine does rev pretty high when descending sometimes; I hope it doesn't cause any issues since there's not much I can do about it on some of the 12% slopes with a heavy trailer pushing us. We're running 91 octane. There's nothing higher anywhere in the Canadian maritimes and in...

Any danger in forcing downshifts? Or lugging engine?

We're partway through a 5 week road trip towing a 7,000lb travel trailer and I've noticed that when going uphill the Expedition is very reluctant to downshift, especially from 7 to 6 (I normally drive in 7-8 when towing around 60 mph). It's a 2019 Platinum with HD tow and lots of practice...

    What fuel do you use?

I wish Costco had 93 here. The one near us only has 87 and 89. But I only buy Top Tier rated gas, preferably from Costco when I don't need premium.

    What fuel do you use?

I also use premium when towing or loaded with cargo. It ends up being cheaper than regular. Regular is cheaper around town and I drive the car gently in the city anyway.

This is spot on. Towing is better with a longer wheelbase and hauling plywood or drywall sheets is a huge plus

OEM Parts in Canada (spark plugs)

Has anyone been able to find Motorcraft spark plugs in Canada? None of the online retailer seem to stock Motorcraft or even NGK (even Canadian Tire) and shipping them up from the US is pretty expensive. Our local dealership in Peterborough, ON, is horrible and I wouldn't trust them to do any...

Real world towing MPG 23 expedition TERRIBLE

These are some good suggestions for improving your mpg. I get 10-12 when towing our 7000# Springdale which is much taller than yours. Aerodynamics matter far more than weight for towing. - Use premium fuel (higher octane and lower ethanol will both improve fuel economy and be cheaper while...
