Hauling 8 foot goods in a non-max Expedition

If it’s just a few 8’ 2x4s they’ll fit nicely on the center console. I’ve carried 15’ boards sticking out the passenger window before. If they’re sticking out the upper window in the trunk gate, I’d want someone holding onto them. For plywood, you’ll have to get the seller to cut it down if...

    Wiper Blades

I got a drivers side blade that’s 2” longer than what it came with and it fits perfectly. The passenger side had to stay at stock length. The Bosch icons have served me well.

    Transmission Service

I had an independent shop replace our filter for its first service too. They also replaced the transfer case fluid at the same time. I noticed smoother shifting afterwards.

    Side view mirror assembly replacement

I came here looking for an aftermarket solution after just getting a quote of nearly $3,000 CAD to replace ONLY the driver side mirror. I might be buying a mirror from a thrift store and installing it with duct tape Hit and run drivers have a special place in Hell waiting for them…

Radio Turns On Randomly – Even With No Keys!

Our radio turns on by itself when driving sometimes but never when parked. That would be worrisome for the battery.

    Overheating Issue

I also tow an 8,000 lb trailer and I nearly always have gears 8-10 locked out. I also frequently force a downshift to keep the RPMs a bit higher. Fuel economy remains the same and the engine runs significantly less hot when it’s using less boost. I keep the boost gauge on the dash most of the...

    Towing handling

My sumo springs made a very slight difference. Mine rear end was already getting saggy and this hasn’t fixed it but they might be more effective as a preventative measure. They’re easy to install and relatively cheap.

    What oil are you using

I’m also in favour of full synthetic. We do a lot of heavy towing and I find less or no oil is burned when I use premium gas and Mobil1 Truck & SUV oil. Lower quality fuels and oils have caused overheating in the past.

FOG Lights on my 2025 Active. A lot of work. But can be done!

Looks great. I’d love to see a nighttime photo if you have one.

    Wiper Blade Replacement Recs

I like the Bosch icons a lot too. I went 2” longer than stock on the driver’s side and it’s prefect.

Advice on Towing 25ft RV with 2021 Ford Expedition Max Limited 2x4 + Transmission Cooler Suggestions

I’d recommend the tranny cooler for sure. We have HD tow and pull a 30’ travel trailer around 8,000 lbs and transmission is the first thing to start overheating if I absentmindedly race up a hill. But you have an awesome tow vehicle and shouldn’t have any trouble with a 25’ trailer as long as...

    Max or non-Max?

I wouldn’t buy one unless it’s a max. The extra trunk space, 8’ bed with the seats folded down, and larger gas tank are all very useful.

Do I need a weight distributing hitch for 3,400 pounds?

You likely won’t notice it either way at that weight but if you have heavy stuff in the trunk like water jugs, fuel, or cans/bottles, I’d use weight distribution.

    Driving With Rear Window Open??

I’ve driven with lumber sticking out the rear window. The hydraulic arm keeps it up. I always have the lumber yard staple an orange flag to the longest piece. There’s a regulation about what distance from the back of the vehicle requires the orange flag but I can’t remember exactly what it is.

Urgent advice needed (is it my transmission?)

The extended service plan sounds like a bargain at that price. I also did my first ever spark plug change on my expedition and it took me 15 minutes. Very easy to DIY

Replaced factory RT1252 with RT1258 today

What are you using to measure temperatures? Ours warns me when we get over 228F in the engine, which happens occasionally when towing ann 8,000# travel trailer uphill, especially when the oil is a couple thousand miles old. Our transmission almost never gets to the point where the car gives...

Possible to remove third row bench without folding it?

The 60 side of my 60/40 split third row will not fold down. Troubleshooting has turned up nothing so I need to get it out. I may just leave it out. Has anyone done that without being able to fold it to make accessing all the bolts easier? Any tips? 2019 expedition max platinum.

2019 Expy Max Limited - 3rd Row (40 side) stuck in stowed - no power/sound

They have to be fully removed to troubleshoot by the looks of it. There’s no video on YouTube for the process but I’m going to tackle the job soon now that the weather is warming up. The motors go bad in these things often it seems.

    Sumo Spring part numbers

Sumo spring itself doesn’t seem to know the answer to this one. Which part number do I want for the rears? Amazon is showing three options and it says all of the fit: 1168, 1145, and 1094. 2019 Max Platinum. Thanks!

    Manual fold for third row

I’ve tried that too and it’s not working in my case. I’ll have to take the seat right out to figure it out. It’s a massive pain to have no manual way to fold down seats.

Long RV Trip Report - Also Engine Heating

I’ve towed our 8,000# trailer across the continent a couple times and have found deleting 10, 9, and sometimes 8 helps keep the RPMs in the optimal range. I also change the oil by 3500 miles and keep the coolant topped off to control the temp spikes which can happen towing uphill. Slowing down...
