I have a Tow Smart from Home Depot with a 2 5/16 ball on it. My boat is close to 9,000 full of fuel and I have the XLT, doesn't seem to sag too much considering the weight. First time towing with it and it does a lot better job than the Tahoe I had.
I tow an 8,000lb boat, but only a few times a year when I put it on the trailer and the ramp to the house is 1.8 miles. I don't have the HD tow package but no issues for these short trips.
For those of you who broke the passenger tail light..Give me a price. I need the plastic piece that screws onto the car. They don't sell that part individually and I'm not buying a new tail light for that piece.

I tow pretty heavy too..but the boat primary stays on the lift behind the house and I take it out 3-4 times a year and the ramp is 1.6 miles away. I drive slow and leave plenty of room to stop. The trailer is a triple axel and has 4 brakes so its stops pretty well.
