What to look for when buying a gen 1 expy
I didnt read all of the posts but i have two 1st gen expeditions 2000 EB 160K and 1997 XLT 170K. If fluids were maintained these 2 valve engines will run forever. . I am not trained mechanic but can turn a wrench and have access to youtube, tons of F150 and Exp videos from this generation...- Rob_V

Blend Door Help
Check the actual blend door for breakage where the acutator goes into. It is plastic. My blend door was broken, actuator works. I did this on my 1997 Exp XLT and was not a bad job and you can never see it. This is how i "fixed" my broken blend door. You cut with a dremel tool and then...- Rob_V

Is a 2001 Expedition the right truck for us?
i have 2 1st gen expedition, 1 i bought new in 97 170k and a 2000 Eddie Bauer i bought from original owner in 2019 with 138 k and all service records. IMHO the 2 valve 5.4 were the best engines, easy to work on. (I also have an 03 Excursion V10 2 valve original owner) I am not a trained...- Rob_V

External fuel pump
Not sure it's worth the trouble. The tank is not bad to drop, I just did my 40 gallon excursion on my back w floor jack and straps after 190k. My 97 expedition 5.4 is starting to have extra cranks to start just like excursion did, I didn't check pressure yet. But will change anyway. Should be...- Rob_V

Bought a 2000 Expedition 4x4 within about a minute...now i'm nervous!
The 2000 5.4 most likely has plastic intake manifold. Buy a code reader that will give you fuel trims. If you do some research on youtube you get to understand. (Scannerdanner) Mine was running rough without codes. But without codes it's a tough diagnosis. I have three 2 valve modular engines...- Rob_V
