Has anyone replaced the lenses on their headlights?

The lenses on my HID equipped 2004 Navigator are too deeply cracked to restore. New headlamp assemblies aren't sold anymore or old stock is listed for $800+ Trying to figure out if I can swap in the lenses from a new aftermarket halogen kit. I believe they're glued in but before I take the...

2004 Ford Expedition - Best Recommendations to improve night time driving

How easy or difficult is the lens replacement? I have a 04 Navigator Ultimate with HID lamps and the lenses have pretty deep UV cracks that I haven't been able to sand through. I'd like to avoid buying new lamps but haven't been able to source new lenses. perhaps someone knows?

Switched power circuit / fuse # needed for dashcam.

So, just took the console off to look for suitable wires. There's space to fit the charger. Power to the interior lights is continuous. The rear AC fan speed adjuster gets switched power but also stepped. Voltage drops as you increase fan speed (1,2,3) on each of the hot wires in that plug...

Switched power circuit / fuse # needed for dashcam.

All that said, I'm still surprised that circuits like the Radio & Sub (#31) would have continuous power. Is that really normal? I expected these to be switched but at the least to turn off a few minutes after the vehicle is shut off and locked.

Switched power circuit / fuse # needed for dashcam.

A 4K cam off of Amazon (Galphi). I bought a separate hardwiring kit for it that comes with a pretty bulky charger.

Switched power circuit / fuse # needed for dashcam.

Good idea. Where did you mount the charger? Mine's pretty bulky.

Switched power circuit / fuse # needed for dashcam.

Gents, I'm looking for a 10A+ switched circuit in the fuse box of my '04 Navigator to tap into for hard wired dashcam operation only while driving. I tried a number of options from #4 (Navigation) all the way through #31 (Radio, Subwoofer) but power remains available in each circuit even 30...

    Any other ideas?

The downstream sensor was definitely bad. Unfortunately, that didn't fix the intermittent idle vibration completely. I ended up changing all plugs again and found that the cylinder #1 coil (1 year old) was toast after a blown radiator caused an overheated engine this summer. Since, I also...

    Rear Upper Control Arm

Hey Hamfisted, I have play in my rear suspension with noises similar to what I was getting up front, until I replaced everything. I'm having to get the Navi (04) aligned for a 3rd time but before doing that, I want to make sure the rear end is tight, as well. Rockauto marks the K80213 as the...

    Any other ideas?

So, it turns out the downstream O2 sensor in the 2nd bank (driver side) had gone bad, as well. Stuck low voltage signal but no code. (Hadn't looked at that before) I replaced all with NTK units and reset the PCM. After 150 miles, the idle is completely smooth now. Leaving this here for anyone...

Misfire Cylinder 5? Second motor, and PCM?

Splicing in a new connector is not a problem. Unfortunately, these connectors can get charred - it's just cheap plastic.. Found mine on cylinder #2 burnt a while back and we replaced it this way problem solved. I'd been chasing fuel smell and smoke on startup, poor MPG after going through...

    Brake booster question

I also need to correct my statement about the bellows. The strutmasters kit does have them. Just saw that when I was under there spraying down my bushings and ball joints. It was definitely a valid suggestion given the timing of the replacement and noise fist appearing, plus my suspension gets...

Strut conversion - creaking noises, especially in the rear

So I sprayed down most bushings and joints, front and back underneath the truck with silicone lube and it made a noticeable difference. Still getting a squeak / creaking when the rear struts are compressed a bit more than over road bumps, for example driving onto the drive way. The towers are a...

Strut conversion - creaking noises, especially in the rear

Hola, Deleted all 4 air struts on my '04 Navigator last year with a Strutmasters kit. The ride comfort is alright but I appreciate the peace of mind of having eliminated the various potential repeat failure points is worth it, IMO, especially at the overall cost. What is definitely a bit...

    Any other ideas?

It's still not idling 100% smooth but I found a loose upstream O2 sensor finally triggering a code that probably allowed air into the exhaust. Any remaining shakiness in the idle from here has got to be mechanical. Engine has 162K miles but was driven by the PO with worn / busted timing chain...

    Brake booster question

After listening more closely under the dash when first backing out of the driveway, it's definitely coming from the brake booster so I'll be replacing that. My strut conversion kit didn't come with bellows. I'm pretty sure I've identified the source of the idle stumbling though: I started...

    Any other ideas?

I've had a slight (irregular) engine shake on my 2V 5.4 '04 Expedition and was never able to resolve it. This is somewhat following me on my '04 Navigator with the 32V DOHC 5.4 motor has a relatively smooth cold idle but once warmed up, I get a more rhythmic vibration at 700 (and 1300-1400...

    '04 AC orifice tube location

Thanks. I previously fixed the vacuum line that connects to the heater valve and that addressed a problem with air not blowing from the front vents intermittently. I'm not hearing any clicking noises from the dash or rear ac blend door actuator. I'll have them check the pressure again but if...

    '04 AC orifice tube location

Ok, so I got in there and the coils look really clean. Granted, it's the back side so I sprayed them with the cleaning foam but haven't noticed any improvement in performance. I'd already topped off with freon a bit so next step needs to be to get a gauge set or have the pressures looked at...

    '04 AC orifice tube location

Perfect. I was wondering where a good access point might be... Have you ever checked - with a borescope camera perhaps - how well this stuff was able to get solid matter off the coils without physically rinsing them? I've seen how plugged up the can get on the intake side. I'll try to get in...

    '04 AC orifice tube location

The temperatures were measured inside the vent and while driving for 10 minutes with the AC turned on BTW. The evap core fins are most likely dirty and somewhat blocked but I don't know if that has a huge impact on system performance.

    '04 AC orifice tube location

It's an 04 Navi but the system is probably identical. The air temperature coming out of my vents isn't cold enough, 50F+ degrees at 82F outside, about 10F too high. Warmer at higher outside temps. This is after a complete overhaul: new compressor, dryer, condenser, expansion valve, o-rings...

Gents, is the encircled location in the attached pic where the AC orifice tube sits? Thx

    Brake booster question

I'm not seeing any signs of leaks. The noise sound a bit like it could come from the front left strut, too and now that I think about it, it started after I had the new struts installed. I'll need to have the shop look at it again.
