In my opinion the point of a pro pride is to tow a really long travel trailer with a 1/2 ton type vehicle. It doesn’t distribute weight better than anything else. However it mitigates sway more effectively, and when you tow something really long and tall with a 1/2 ton you’re asking for sway issues.
I want to see PowerBoost in the Expedition as much as anyone, but isn't this a mid-cycle update for the Expedition? They made those changes to the F150 on a complete redesign - they just happened to keep the design aesthetic pretty similar so it looks like a refresh when it wasn't. I guess...
If prices were too high, vehicles would be sitting on lots. These are supply issues not pricing issues. Small solace to those forced to pay, but it is what it is.
I don't think aggiegrad05 was saying that nothing ever goes wrong with the CCD suspension, but rather that problems reported are rare... unlike the standard suspension components.
I've towed almost 10k miles with my 2020 Expedition Max w/3.73. Tow mode is fantastic for downhill. You really won't need the brakes except around corners, it's phenomenal. I've tried with and without tow mode at other times, and honestly what saves you fatigue and MPG in my opinion is...
I’m having this problem too. It seems to be related to how long the vehicle has been shut off. When I stop for gas, that’s not long enough and the satellite freezes (song and station do not update or play). But stop for longer (haven’t tested but overnight always seems to work) and it comes...
My guess is that it won’t transfer enough tongue weight for something that heavy. I don’t own one of these but they have design elements I admire (horizontal weight distribution, integrated sway control) that are unique. Unfortunately I believe they can only transfer up to 30% of tongue weight...
We tow almost 6k, with a hitch... I really can't imagine towing that much without one, even though we're below the limit. Your front end will be light, and your rear axle might be close to the weight limit.
I'm almost positive even the HD tow-equipped Expeditions need to use a weight distribution hitch to get the maximum allowed tongue weight and tow capacity. Have you checked the manual?
I don’t own one but based on my research they only make sense if nothing else will control your sway (basically your tow vehicle is too short and too light). So all that money will probably save you from upgrading your tow vehicle or downsizing your trailer. A well-matched trailer size will be...
I haven't had any issues but they definitely overfilled me last time I was in... leaks intermittently in my driveway and garage! I wonder whether this was a rush job or if they do this to reduce the number of complaints about low oil/burning oil.
Exactly. I think it’s safe to say anyone who offers you a guarantee that exceeding your vehicle’s tow or payload capacity is either completely safe or NOT illegal is full of it. Of course your insurance company can try to deny your claim! I mean they might not but I think that’s a worthless...
Yeah, I doubt you would have. I watch the gear indicator all the time and I very rarely snuck into 9th or 10th gear unless we had a major tailwind, so under most conditions the programming pushes you into 8th gear at around 2100-2200 rpm and boost with turbo for all that wind resistance. We...
I did actually find this in a travel trailer forum I belong to - appears that locking gears out actually drives the turbos less... giving better mileage.
Rear axle rating goes up with HD Tow package; front axle rating goes up with Max/4WD. So total GVWR is highest with HD Tow and Max, probably 2WD... however the trim level is really where you can add payload, options in the bones are largely a wash or benefit payload.
My guess is the fact that you can only use it while the car is on is the reason why it's a better price for unlimited (I was actually able to get it for $15/month during a promotion). I don't know of a way to make it work without the car being on.
I suppose when you think of it that way a Max seems like a nuisance… we were going Max or crew cab pickup which was going to require a notch in the garage wall to fit so getting the Max in seemed easy by comparison!
