noticed a bit more slop in the steering a few days ago.
Upon startup from cold and dark, there is a faintly audible "Tok" sound accompanied by tactile feedback which suggests something is loose in the steering components.
This is experienced when one turns steering wheel left or right...
oh cool, thank you for sharing.
yeah, only had a detent towards bright side of control wheel.
no detent towards dim to turn off.
i can live with it, just checking if there were undocumented features.
wow thanks for this!
is there a way to have illuminated dashlight without having to turn parking or head lights on?
sometimes its dark inside truck even in day time.
Stepboard lights and internal lights illuminate when doors are open.
Is there a way to prevent them from turning on?
Sometimes we just want some doors open when parked outdoors but dont need the lights and would rather they stay off.
1999 xlt.
Btw, how difficult was it to get to the blend door/actuator?
was youtubing it and only saw two ways, one required cutting some material away (less dissassembly) the other had most of the dash removed just to get to it.
man i wish they just made it a manual mechanical lever that closed/opened a...
Finally got the part to the islands and had it put in.

It would sometimes stumble/hesitate upon shifting to D or R from P or N followed by a few minutes of wildly wandering idle. I ignored it since it was very rare but it finally got pretty bad one time and it stalled in reverse (automatic mind you) so I said nope, gonna address this now.

unless you really really need or want it, maybe just shut the blend door completely and condemn that motor that just spins.
that is what i plan to do with mine since my blend door is stuck open and i really would like to keep it closed (max AC) all the time anyway.
4.6
thanks for recommending rockauto and explaining the part differences.
yes i also ordered gaskets as of course they don't come as a bundle.
waiting for it to get to hayward CA.
anyone else put in an IAC Valve from say BWD or SMP?
how is it so far?
can't seem to find the motorcraft part on amazon.
is it the same motorcraft part for the 5.4 L and 4.6 L engine?
banked to the left i mean driver side (left hand drive) is lower than right side.
will change coolant along with other fluids in about 400 mi, in the meantime will just avoid idling in surfaces banked to the left.
will do a radiator replacement if flush and fill doesn't remedy it.
my brake pedal also has side to side play.
if i wiggle my foot i can feel it move side to side ever so slightly.
i've always just attributed it to SUV construction slop and big tolerances but sure would love to reduce it if it can be done safely.
1999 XLT 4.6
something about being parked on a left bank is affecting the coolant system.
happened again today, less than 8 degree left bank, parked idling and coolant went up to 112 deg C (via bluedriver live data).
normal coolant idle temp is 99 to 103 and this truck idles for 20 to 30 mins regularly on...
i do have another one.
i still have both the original keys/fobs.
yes that is the next option once i am certain it is a failing key ID.
already studied the 8 times on/off procedure of pairing a new key.
