    Broke down abroad - alternator?

    We had our alternator go out on our last road trip from SD to TN on the way back near Brookings, SD. I had it changed out in less than an hour. It really did look like I replaced the original alternator from 2000 and 232,000 miles later!

    300k miles Any recommendations for maintenance

    Latest tank was 14.4. We shall see what happens. I'm in the process of trying to de-sludge the engine. The more I drive it, it seems to be working as the valvetrain is quieting down and I'm regaining some power.
