If by "bumps off the limit" you mean the mirror gets stuck in a cycle of trying to move and makes an incessant clicking noise, it's a known issue on '18s (I recall some threads here on it). Dealer reprogrammed mine a few years ago and fixed the issue.
Would be interesting to see how this poll broke out by length of ownership/miles.
My honeymoon lasted until around 30,000 miles or so. Before that I had some issues with trim, the mirror clicking issue, corroded running boards, and some other minor issues. Then the cam phasers came along...
Any chance you have a number for the TSB?
Dealer confirmed my cover is cracked and it would be at least two months to get the replacement part. Covered under my ESP and didn't mention a TSB. Maybe if I had the TSB I could save myself the ESP deductible.
Mine is leaking in the same exact place as yours. I can see a hairline fracture on my cover on the shoulder just below the bolt where the oil pools (right where your light is shining in the first pic). I did have my cam phasers replaced (~20k miles ago).
My '18 has had its issues. I wouldn't buy again - not for the vehicle, - but the service at dealerships. The Ford service experience is crap. My expy has been to 4 different dealerships, they've all lacked in some form.
Cracked valve covers are another thing to watch on the 4th gen.
Should have known something would happen to my '18 expy after I mentioned a week or so ago that I haven't used my ESP yet.
Burning oil smell, found oil on driver side exhaust manifold, removed engine cover, traced to the valve...
If you have to replace a moonroof panel the tint may not match the old panel and the glass might not be as robust as the original. I'd confirm with dealer that it will match if you have to replace.
A bro-dozer with tires sticking about a foot past the fenders threw a rock onto my '18 expy. I...
Legit question. For me, it wasn't scientific. The dealer that worked for me has something like 9 service advisors, is a Lincoln and Ford dealer, does medium and heavy commercial work, and just has the largest dealership when you eyeball the lot.
I wish the two small dealers could have worked...
TL;DR: I had been waiting since Oct '20 for a dealership to replace my cam phasers. After going through 3 dealerships, they were repaired within two weeks. The repair itself took a day and a half. I learned that 1) Ford corporate doesn't care if you get crap service from a dealership; and 2)...
Thanks to all that gave me an idea of how long they had to wait for the parts. Based on everyone's input, waiting months is not normal.
I contacted Ford Customer Care this morning to see where my parts are. Ford is having its "Dealer Team" reach out to my dealer to expedite the parts...
Deadman's situation is the exact reason why I haven't been in too much of a rush to get them replaced. However, I've been waiting months for mine to get fixed, seems excessive especially in light of what times others are posting.
Outside of the cam phasers, a leaking front axle seal, and a bad...
First post here, hi all. I've got a 2018 FX4 with around 46k on it. I've owned since new.
Here's my issue: I've had the cam phaser issue for the last 10k or so. Was diagnosed at a dealer back in October, parts were ordered, waited months for parts, and then when they finally arrived the...
