I used my factory cross members but found it very bouncy since those aluminum cross members dont take a lot of weight.
Im looking to get a new overlander full roof rack for my 2007 EL. The only one i found is made by Kingdom offroad in Arizona.
I have 240,000 on my 2007 EL Limited.
I love this beast!
I put Rancho coilovers and replaced the airbags in the rear with coilovers. Added Rapor 35” wheels and raptor running boards.
Had the AC compressor go out.
AC leak
I have used Synthetic oil since day one. The issue I had was that i...
If you want a really great example of what an Expedition can be built out for overlanding. The couple has a youtube channel Adventure Driven. This Expo is awesome. And they go through all the adaptations they made to their Gen 3.

Ive done that and with a RTT but the standard crossbars on and expo are pretty weak and flex a lot when you put weight up there. If you want to put a deflector on because with the RTT is an airdamn and your mileage drops to 11mph.
The best ive seen is kingdom but its a steep price.
The Rator has 3 bracket points front and back that line up perfectly. The middle one not so much. 2 bracket points works great.
You can do the extra work and install the middle bracket you just need to drill and install the right size threaded rivet fitting and you are golden.
2007 EL Limited 267,000 mi I have owned since driving off the lot. I have modified from original mom car since I took it over from my wife a couple years ago. Few more mods to go. Many more explorations ahead.
I have a 2007 EL Limited with 236,000 miles on it. Religiously changed oil with only synthetic. Now HMS.
Only issue was transmission rebuilt because I assumed my mechanic changed out transmission fluid and he never did.
Its been a beast.
My 2007 has 230k have only run synthetic now high mileage synthetic.
My Trans went out at 212k because my mechanic never changed the trans fluid.
Good luck.
There is a replacement list online.
Make sure you change your transmission fluid and filter. That was my mistake.
I only use pure synthetic in the engine.
I put the rough country 1.5” coil over leveling replacing front and rear and the rear airbags. Putting the 2” spacers made my UCA hit the springs. Had to take the spacers out.
Added 315r70-17 Raptor wheels.
It brought it off the ground considerably.
I looked everywhere for fixes to get it up...
The issue past the 3” lift spacers is the rear end wishbone wont fit well unless you make some custom modifications
The front you have to change out the contol arms over 2” lift.
They didnt think through this option with this vehicle and went more for comfort and soccer moms versus off...
With just the standard lift no. I tried to add additional spacer lift in addition to the Rancho coil over lifted shocks, that made the control arm hit the springs. So the 2” lift from the new coilovers was all I could get without changing out the control arm.
Are you looking at bulbs or the actual housing?
I upgraded the entire housing on my 07 to the Arco(sp) led headlight. Much better than the origiginals.
