having done all this.. and mostly failed.. you MUST have the 3:73 gear set.. the expedition can have 3:31 and still stay HD towing.. well having gotten that, it TOTALY SUCKS i changed to using my f150 even though its not nearly as cushy as the ex but it has 3:73 gears.. with the 3:31 it jumps...
anything with fuel, air, ignition i take straight to ford.. all the rest is ok at a "local repair shop" its just WAYYYYYYY to easy for a tech who works on chevy most of the time to mis diagnose and then replace a whole lot of parts.. its a common malady to just keep replacing parts till you find...
I can do the differentials myself but am no longer able to do r&r. Thinking about buying a junk yard set then rebuild w 4;10 gears and when I’m totally happy w them paying to have the complete diff installed W 4:10 do you tow in drive or w OD off ?? How much hassle to fix speedometer. Thanks
on my 08 im using a "straight line" with a friction sway control.. my camper is short and high.. it can get squerly at 70 plus but up to 65 its dead stable, even in cross wind.
the way insurance is these days - turning off a safety feature is something id never put in writing and id be real wary that it might get listed to the black box.. just saying
so the dealer has just left it sitting because they cannot fix it? or will not fix it? or they are charging too much? i have seen 2007 that look new, and 2007 full of rust holes.. which is this one.. any competent mechanic can make a wire harness with the plugs and the color code and wiring...
the left side takes all the day - the right is easy.. my only worry is that there is zero replacement available for the controller - and my rear defrost button is faulty - has anybody heard a rumor of a replacement controller that is available?
8 is not off for a ford replace engine with labor.. they have a warranty.. but just a cheap replace yourself could be 4k or possibly less if you use used parts.. still stupid should really hurt.. that said, i know somebody who has been incapable of checking anything and signed up for a place...
the real question is how to get the bolts out.. my ones right in front of the rear wheels are stuck.. several are bad but cant replace any of the upper till they are all apart and lift the body.. 2008 looking for somebody who has actually done it.
what gear ratios are actually in your expeditions .. do you run with the OD light off? it "appears" that the OD light tops the trans out in 4th is that correct? I have a 2008 w 3:31 & HD towing
the ford shop says some of them are stuck... how DO ifind the top of the bolt to drill it out? there are real clunks from the ones that are bad. the car has little rust, but some its the rear ones in front of the rear wheels that are stuck if im thinking correctly. thanks
The real problem is that the ford controller works with the stability control system. So in a bad situation it’s better. Something is wrong in the wiring, Just ignoring it will kick the can. If smoke has already escaped twice there is a fire risk that will not leave by ignoring it
The head lights on my 2015 f150 are many times brighter than the lights on my 2008 expedition limited. suggestions for real improved replacements please.
