    Cam phaser DIY Experience

I'm not an expert at extracting stuck bolts, but there are plenty of people who are. Suggestions I've seen in the past include ones you've already heard here, welding a nut on the end if you are a welder and have tools, some specialty extraction devices like easy outs, or grinding the head of...

    Cam phaser DIY Experience

Thank you. Today marks 10 months since I did this and as should be expected, no leaks, no noise, etc. Everything is still working well and there have been no repairs on anything since then.

'23 towing with HD tow - what are ppl using for keeping level?

If you are towing within the weight limits of the 23 Platinum then a properly configured weight distribution hitch will work to keep everything level. I use an Equalizer hitch and it works well for towing our ~75000 lb loaded trailer. It, and many other weight distributing hitches also help...

    Park Assist Module(PAM) Location

I should add that my previous post concerning the location of the PAM was for a 2018. That's the model I have. I hope it's helpful, but I suppose they could have moved it for the 2020.

    Park Assist Module(PAM) Location

With Active Park assist it looks like it's near the base of the pillar between the front and second row seats on the passenger side according to the shop manual. It's part of the BCM on non-active park assist vehicles.

    Cam phaser DIY Experience

Hi Anaclya, I used a few resources and spent some time preparing. I watched a series of youtube videos on a Gen1 ecoboost, which isn't exactly the same, especially the timing setup, but it does cover a lot of general things that were helpful about cleaning gasket surfaces, torquing bolts, etc...

    Cam Phaser engine damage

I know Ford's official position is that this doesn't lead to any other issues or lead to other damage to the engine, and I think in the time-frame that Ford's most interested in (how long can we get them to wait while we get parts in and a slot scheduled for them without needing to provide a...

    Towing

I couldn't find any mirrors I liked so I went with a Haloview camera system with one camera on the back and two side cameras. The screen can be set to show all three at once. It has it's pluses and minuses over mirrors, and may not satisfy the legal requirements for mirrors, but I guess I'm...

The latest on cam phasers, valve covers and the cooling hose leak.

Yes, I did it myself after a lot of research and some youtube videos. It took a fairly large assortment of tools, but nothing exotic. I needed three torque wrenches to span the various required torques, an impact, an air ratchet (battery powered would work too), a ~$5 set of quick fuel line...

The latest on cam phasers, valve covers and the cooling hose leak.

One would hope that one of the advantages of having a newer vehicle would be improved parts availability vs having an older one. I guess there's probably a sweet spot between really old and really new, and we're too close to the really new end? I did my own cam phasers, ordered parts in August...

    Cam phaser DIY Experience

HI Robert, I agree. Like any large company, quality isn't job one, nor will it every be. Quarterly stock price is job 1 and there really is no job 2. Ultimately until quality impacts that, and it appears it is now with all the recalls and expensive warranty work, it will just be viewed as the...

    Cam phaser DIY Experience

Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, the VCT units are the camshaft sprockets. It turns out I got the newest intake units and the slightly older CD units for exhaust. When I ordered, Ford recommended the CD units for the Expedition, probably to avoid having inventory sitting around. The CD's...

    Cam phaser DIY Experience

Long time lurker, first time post--it's kind of long. I've learned a lot from posts on this forum and wanted to post about my experience completing cam phaser replacement in my driveway this past weekend to contribute something back. I have a 2018 MaxXLT with HD tow. I have 95k miles. My...
