Rancho's are made by Monroe. Shocks alone will not lift your truck. maybe a new set of "air-bags" or compressor for your air-ride load leveling system. In order to lift your truck you will either need new springs and or spacers.
Did you or your mechanic clear your D.T.C.'s (diagnostic trouble codes) from your truck's computer? It may be that even though the "check engine" light was reset the computer may still beleive that the problem exists because the codes have not been cleared...
just an idea, not sure if it will...
a nice set of all-terrain tires would also help.... they go a long way toward absorbing all those bumps!!
Question: If your truck had solid axles, would it help you in any way with the sinking in the sand or would you perhaps find yourself balancing on your differential(s) and/or axle(s)...

I was only teasing about the beer. I spilled mine all over a couple of days ago. Are there any SUV's out there which come straight from the factory configured the way anyone would really want them for off-road? The Tires are the first object of question... then shocks, springs, ride height...
Damn Ford,
I must say it soes not surprise me to hear that you drive around with a beer in your hand, perhaps if you were sober you would stop driving over all the big bumps and wailing on your vehicle. The problem is that you guys are assuming that if a vehicle has 4 wheel drive...
A few good points there rwinch, however:
1. The comparison is merely to illustrate that not "all" competent off road vehicles need to have a solid axle. Secondly there are aspects of the IS on the H1 and the Expedition ('03-+) that are similar. The differentials, both front and...
i think you guys need to re-assess... i havae done a lot of off roading in the northern new mexico area and in the muddy swamps of texas and there is nothing like independant rear suspension. i could take my audi and my subaru (both all-wheel drive with independant suspension) many places that...
