'19 starting slowly

My '19 Expedition Max is starting slowly (see the 10 second video linked below). It doesn't do it all of the time, but it is getting more regular, especially after the vehicle has sat for 12+ hours. It hasn't thrown any codes and an inspection at a local mechanic didn't find anything amiss. Please advise.

Replace the battery!! Mine did all kinds of weird when the battery got soft. It still started but it wasn’t a sharp start and other stuff got dysfunctional like sun roof and auto steps.

Fresh costco battery same exact one it had from factory it was all fine again.

Even shifting got weird before I realized battery had to be an issue.

Replace the battery with a high-quality (OEM Motorcraft) battery with the same CCA and reserve capacity.

Ensure the battery terminals are clean and tight. Use a battery terminal brush to clean them before installing a new battery.

Thank you for the input. I will replace it tomorrow. We considered and then dismissed the battery as a problem since it is less than one year old, but even young batteries can go bad I suppose. Heck, we probably got a cheap one anyway.

I'll let y'all know if it works.

Even a new battery can run low on charge between the summertime heat and all of the electronics running in the background. Do you have a trickle charger? After 5+ years of nursing our original battery with a trickle charger and in preparation for a summer trip out of state, I bought a new OEM replacement battery in March. Off the shelf, it still needed a top-off charge and seemed to work as designed since then. In July we took our 2,000 mile trip with no issues until earlier this week when the ASS and the intelligent touch on the rear doors stopped working (typical sign of low battery charge). It's not as though the car has been sitting as it was during Covid times. It has been driven pretty much daily since our trip.

Back again. I had the battery tested at two different places and it checks out fine. The connections are all tight and clean. The starter and alternator checked out fine as well. Two mechanics suggested getting the fuel system looked at. One specifically said the fuel pressure regulator. Another mechanic disagreed. Everyone I call and talk to seems very reluctant to want to do anything. I think I'm going to get the fuel injectors serviced (that's what a guy at the dealership said they could do) but I don't think it's going to solve anything. Any other ideas folks or do I need to drop it off at the Ford Service place and hope for the best?

And back again. A few more calls and then to the Ford Service department. They suggest leaving it for a couple of days to get a diagnosis. Could be fuel system. More likely the a cam phaser problem. I know the cam phasers on these engines are famously problematic, so I am guessing that's the problem. BTW we had the infamous cam phaser rattle repaired three years ago, but it has been back recently. Perhaps they are related. We will get the diagnostic at the end of the month. Hopefully no more updates until then.

FYI, I don't think this is normal, unless the battery has been sitting on shelf somewhere, unused for a long time, as almost all new batteries come pre-charged at or above the standard charge levels nowdays (12.5-14.5v)...

This seems more like a alternator and/or voltage regulator issue to me...

I have replaced 2 OEM batteries in the past 2 years (1 in my Expy, the other in my son's Impala) with Napa Golds, and as soon as I installed them, the vehicles fired right up nottaproblemo, and both showed 12.6-13.7v on the dash, and I have never had to trickle charge them at all, even in the dead of our near-zero winters or hot 95F summers

I don't know why folks are hung up on the battery, seems to turn over real well. Anybody check the coils? How about a compression test? Fuel pressure test?
