1999 Expedition 5.4 Eddie Bauer. Yesterday, after I got gas, a few blocks later, I stopped and the pedal went to the floor and barely caught with the brake pushed in all the way. I drove slowly to an auto parts store thinking the brake fluid had leaked out but the reservoir was full and did not appear to be any brake fluid leaking. I was a mile away from home, so I made it there driving slowly. Symptoms seem to point to the master cylinder gone bad.
I understand this repair is fairly simple and just requires a bench bleeding and a system bleeding afterwards.
What is the part number? I am not even sure the Ford Part is available anymore, and if it is, likely very expensive. What is a decent brand that is not too expensive? Which brands should I avoid? AI recommends Dorman for quality/price combination.
Also, is there a bleeding tool that you would recommend?
Any help will be appreciated.
