I own a 2016 Expedition EL Limimted 4x4. The mirror options are:
Power folding (not available on Trail Ridge mirrors)
Memory
Turn signal
Puddle lamps
Heated
Dimming (not available on Trail Ridge mirrors)
1A Auto Customer service: 7/10 overall. Knowledge: 3/10. Fulfilment of order 10/10. Willingness of the CS agent to work with me: 6/10 since the chat killed it and the phone agent easily yielded.
As of right now 1A Auto customer service & Trail Ridge product information states that their mirror compatibility stops at 2015. 1A Auto CS said that they don't have a tow mirror for me and that I should check E-Bay. Per myself, @HawkX66 and @Langer , we all have the trail ridge mirrors for our 2016+ Expys and I haven't heard of any compatibility problems. That's too bad they'd forsake me so quickly.
My Expy was sideswiped and my mirror was quoted at $1002 for a new replacement with paint to match. I used to be a mechanic so I cahsed out my insurance claim and bought these trail ridge mirrors for $314 + next day air shipping from UPS. They guarantee delivery by 1030 for my area. When it didn't arrive on time, I used the chat feature on 1AAuto website. They told me there that they won't be giving me a shipping cost refund because the package still arrived next day per their shipping FAQ on their website. They then told me that if I want a refund I'd have to contact UPS directly (wrong). So they will be pocketing the $120 next day air shipping cost. I stop the chat, call UPS and they confirm that if it's delivered after 1030 for my area the shipper gets refunded automatically and I'd have to contact them (1aAuto) and arrange for the refund.
This time I call 1A Auto and the rep tells me again no refund and I'd have to contact UPS. I explain I already have & what UPS policy is. He then has to place me on hold, get a supervisor and then confirm that I am correct and will be getting a refund on my shipping.
Trail Ridge tow mirrors: 8/10. Two star deduction for having a super flat right mirror.
Excellent quality on the exterior finish, everything works as stated, no problems with electrical and the wiring & connections are of very high quality. The factory nuts are quite good and the trail ridge ones don't feel as good of a quality so I re-used the factory nuts after verifying that they don't require replacement with the factory service manual.
Despite being tight, the right mirror still wobbled despite being tight so I wobbled it as I was torquing the nut on and got a bit more slack out.
My one major complaint (for now): The passenger side mirror is flat like the driver side. No convex shaping and basically everything looks very magnified and the FOV is so much worse than the stock mirror. The lower convex mirror helpes to solve that but I have a hard time focusing on the lower mirror due to some extra distortion that I'll examine more in the daylight.
The mechanism is very stout and has very positive engagement in the different positions. The folded in position isn't as parallel to the door as I'd like but it's better than most other cars that just tilt the mirror housing upward but don't actually reduce the profile.
The puddle lamps are similar to stock being a dim and warm yellow-ish white light. I'll have to buy LED puddle lights again from amazon. The size of the mirror housing certainly will lend itself to being able to mount other lighting options like a forward facing turn signal lamp in the future. They look to be paint friendly if you so desire to do that.
Installation took me 1 hour total including inspection & testing of the mirrrors before installation. If the passenger mirror was just ever so slightly convex that would make these products a 10/10 in my book.
