Hello:
I am the original owner of a 2001 Expedition 4.6. Valve cover gaskets need replacing and in process of ordering parts but I am confused as to which style gasket applies to my engine. I was always under the impression that the 2001 4.6 and 5.4 Windsor manufactured (PI) engines had interchangeable valve covers and hence gaskets. Rockauto and Amazon show different styles. They show the 4.6 gasket as a large rubber seal with no bolt holes and the 5.4 gasket as a large rubber seal with 13-14 bolt holes. Too make matters more confusing, Fordparts.com lists the same part number for the 2001 4.6 or 5.4 expedition and that seal has 13-14 holes.
Can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks for your time.
