On my 2003 Eddie Bauer, ever since I purchased it two months ago, I've been noticing a gas smell after turning the engine off from the back of the vehicle. The smell is noticeable starting at the back door, strongest on drivers side. I got up under it today and saw this hose zip tied to the filler neck. Is that supposed to be plugged in somewhere? If so, where? Thanks.

Someone on Facebook pointed out that it goes to my vent valve. I'll get a new vent valve solenoid and attach it. Thanks for looking.

Did you confirm that the hose goes to the valve? I literally found the same thing on my 03 xlt.

I found this diagram on Mitchell1 DIY.

It's the hose that the arrow is pointing at. The problem is that the end I care about, the one that is zip tied up, is the one that is going off the screen to the right. So, it does go to the vent valve, via the vapor separator (the small box with the arrow pointing left). I still don't know where this hose plugs into. And, the canister bracket from the bottom is a solid piece of metal, and it appears the bolts that hold it in place are all on the top of the frame. But luckily only 3 bolts hold it in place.
91fox, thanks for the diagrams from AllData, I might just get a sub to that one as well. I have Mitchell1 DIY for this vehicle, but looks like you have a few more diagrams than I do. Thanks.

I feel like that hose is a vent. I'm not entirely sure that it plugs into anything at all, however, if you find out otherwise please do post. I'm having some weird issues of my own lol

I had the same issue.. Mine was MUCH more invasive, though. Park it on a downhill slope with the front of the truck facing downhill, make sure you have a full tank of gas. Look to see if you have gas dripping down. If you don't then, it is probably that vent hose, and it is clogged above. If you see gas dripping, it is probably the same issue I had. My tank actually had a crack in the top where the fuel pump goes in and it was allowing gasoline to spill out the front. The mechanic and I thought it was just a bad seal on the fuel pump, but they noticed further damage after pulling the tank to replace the pump. Mine is a 2004 EB, as well, so be ready to hunt a bit for the replacement tank, if that is the problem. It took 3 different tanks before they found one that fit correctly. /smh
